It has just been a year or two since De La Salle acquired GAUF, so far so good. The campus was a bit better now than before. From my interview sa veterinary class na tinuruan ko dun, the veterinary college is their biggest (comprising 90% of the studentry if I recall it right). So if you would be taking BS Agri dun...you would be in one of the minority groups and as such will probably not be given a good educational background - I could be wrong you know  take this as my opinion. How can you practice agri if wala naman land to till or area to raise animal (puro bahayan na ang GAUF nowadays).

Sa field na ginagalawan ko, I have yet to see a BS Agri graduate ng GAUF (na 90's generation ha) na successfull!!! Sa vet nila merong mga successfull but mostly from the 70's and 80's batch (these were the heydays of GAUF wherein they rank 2nd to UPLB in terms of vet and agri).

I am definitely bias....but what you're going to do is your future and not mine....so you better decide well.

If I where in your shoes at this moment, my decissions would be: 1st option - to try to get into UP system (kahit saang campus and any course basta nasa UP campus ka dapat). From there I would shift after a semester or year to UPLB to take agriculture. 2nd option - take BS Agri in CLSU instead...no need to shift to UPLB (i believe that they teach well enough and they are better funded than UPLB these days). To gain "recognition" and "respect" in the field, I make sure I have a laude when I graduate in CLSU. 3rd option ko lang to take 1 sem or 1 year of BS Agri in De La Salle (Araneta) then transfer to UPLB.

As explained to sa 'yo- its easier to transfer from UP to UP than from De La Salle (Araneta) to UP.

But again, that is if I were in your shoes!!!

Please think your options over well.

There are a lot of other good Agri schools by the way - one in Cagayan de Oro (forgot the name), one in Cotabato (Mindanao State U), one in Isabela (Isabela State U) and Siliman (Negros yata ito). Yun nga lang ang masakit sa kurso ng Agri...it's never near to a city . Pero ganun talaga e, if you're serious in taking Agri.

Maiba lang ako, ano ba farm ninyo sa Davao? sa hayop ba o sa halaman?

I got lot of friends there in Davao - some former classmates, a fraternity brod (an Iņigo - from a Lopez clan) and a client (Seņorita Farm - a big piggery sa Sta Cruz).

Sari-Sari po ang farm namin sa Davao...

we are a contract grower of DOLE Phils. for Bananas
we have the Piggery Project (most developed)
    An orchid Garden
A certified Crocodile farm by the DENR
and lastly our experimental Ostrich farm

although madami nga... i still cant rely on this farm... we do not know if it is going to be sturdy. for the economy in Davao had boosted down... :?

i plan to go to US naman po if ever di kayanin ng farm sa davao. i may work there. and this summer i'll be visiting a farm in illinois in which the owner i think works in Illinois Dept. of Agriculture

I'm just hoping na this school year... maayos na po ng La Salle ang system nila...

Sa totoo lang buhay ang agriculture...maganda ang "product spread" ng operations ninyo...may be you should also consider agricultural business (agri biz na kurso). Kasi in my assesment mas malaki ang chance mo na mag-succeed ang agri biz kung magaling ka magmarket ng pinuproduce mo.

If you would notice, most of your products are geared for export markets (except the piggery - which I suggest that you sell your output to Cebu than locally in Davao maganda ang price ng karne ng baboy sa Cebu). Napakaganda nito.....

Pupunta ka na rin lang ng US, why don't you consider dun kumuha ng colleg degree mo. Kansas State U, Michigan State U, Cornell U, Purdue U, UCLA, Texas A&M U are a few of the very good Universities in the US that you get into when it comes to Agriculture (these are also the most common universities na pinagtapusan ng MSc or PhD ng mga propessor ko sa UPLB). Napagandang foundation if you take your degree there. It is not cheap (I know) but anyway you're willing work naman dun di ba.... e di mag work and study ka....get assistanship....ang daming options.

Humans need it for survival... kaya buhay po talaga ang agri.. ang problema po, our government does not give enough time and budget to support it...

Political iyan tanong mo....it's possibly 2 issues .... 1) smuggling (cheap pork and possibly contaminated) and 2) lobbying of politicians...for all you know that is one of the requirements ng World Bank....who knows.... too many posibilities.

You're korek....that's why I took BS Agri instead of (my original plan) shifting to BS Computer Sci when I was taking my BS.

The government does give time but the budget is really not enough para maipropagate and implement ang mga researches done na. You would be surprised how many published works and scientific break throughs were done by the DA and other agri sectors and yet they are all in the libraries of PCARRD, UPLB, IRRI, etc....hindi na gawang i-implement or ipamahagi sa lahat ng constituents ng agri sector....kasi kulang na sa pondo....btw some publications in TLRC are from these.....but since TLRC is income generating kaya sila sikat at naipopromote ang mga ito.

Goodluck sa iyong trip....sana'y makahanap ka nararapat sa iyo na eskuela at kurso.
