Glow plugs are used only to preheat the fuel prior to starting. If your engine is smoky, check for any gasket leaks.

Check also your thermostat if it is allowing the engine to reach optimal temperature.

If the engine is smoky only when cold, then you can pass it off as normal.

I agree with KCboy... just encounter this problem late 2004 and iniwan ko talaga yung Pajero para ma test ng mechanic sa umaga. And later on they found out that the problem is with the relay.. So binaklas lang nila and konting linis and ayos 1 click uli yung Pajero.

it's not always the glow plugs..

we also experienced hard starting on our pajero pinalitan din ang glow plugs as adviced by the mechanic. after a year or so, the old sickness occured. siguro we heat the plugs three times before we start it.

napapansin ko rin medyo bluish na ang smoke that it emmits after starting. is it a sign that that the injectors needs to be calibrated?

per as of now ok naman yung ginawa niya, smooth and no white smoke pag umaga. pero enad vance lang yung timing. ok ba.

Tapos tope and check lahat ng belts with oil seal change. Dito sa amin Laoag.

afaik when the injection pump timing is advanced a clear benefit is easy starting. the downside is medyo maingay na yung engine mo. did you notice this?
