Actually, I meant kung meron ba na different set of tranny gears from the factory. I'm comfy na with my speedo and the car drives ok on the 38's. This confusion kasi on the final drive. May factory gears pa ba taller than 4.56?
There were many factory final drives available for the GQ depending on engine, trans and market version.
The spec sheet that I have says 4.555 but I also won't dispute the 4.11 specs that Sixpack has.
The Phil market often gets fairly low final drives possibly due to mountain terrain and heavy traffic. Here are are some examples:
Ford Sportrac: U.S. market = 3.73 with 4.10 optional
Phil version = 4.10 only
Isuzu Trooper: U.S. market = 4.30 and 4.56
Phil version = 4.56 only
Current GR/GU Patrols with the 3.0 Turbo may have 4.375 while the 4.5 gas gets 3.90 and rare 4.8 (dohc 248hp) grey market units have 3.545 standard.

July 19th, 2003 03:32 PM #23Is there a way of knowing exactly beside opening the diff. and turning the wheels, like reading the axle codes, similar to a toyota?

July 19th, 2003 03:38 PM #24Oh another thing, is the front differential of Y60 same as the one with the rear?

You can visually check for the plate stamped on the firewall of your unit. Last two digits on Transaxle Ratio indicates what kind of gear are used. But I'm still in doubt if the stamped specs are true enough to believe; example: 1033 = 3.37, 1041 = 4.11, 1045 = 4.55 etc. I also noticed that transaxle gear ratios are stamped on left front portion on to the body itself inside the hood. Near the water reservoir.
It should be of the same gearing unless the front or rear diffs will take the burden instead of working all 4 wheel drive equally. Well, not really equally, I'm not quite sure how power is split on front and rear.

part time system usually have 50-50 power split. it follows that what ever ratio there is on the rear also the same on the front.

July 19th, 2003 06:53 PM #27What i mean is if the front differential is or reverse rotation type? Like a late model toyota have a different axle carrier on front. Some might have a 9" rear and 8" front?

July 19th, 2003 11:49 PM #28The GQ (Y60) Patrol uses the H233B diff for both axles. However, all front diffs use reverse rotation gears and require different ARB lockers if you opt to install one. Spline count is 33.
The cab and chassis or utility back leaf sprung variant may use the heavier duty H260 with 37 splines.

With my jap version, it has 37 splines.
I guess your GQ Patrol has different diffs for the front and rear. I don't think they make the H260 for front-end applications.
Thanks for the input.
