From experience.... go with a crossover truck. It usually takes us an average of 15 hours before to reach New York from South Carolina with our previous '00 civic. With our previous '01 MDX, it took us less than 11 hours lang (more powerful engine helped a lot during stop and go in gas stations) tapos di pa kami pagod unlike sa civic (cramped kasi, ni hindi ka makapag-stretch ng paa). Our CR-V is more nimble and the handling is a lot better on curves pero matagtag pa rin unlike the cushy ride of the MDX. Between the civic and CR-V..... CR-V pa den pero kung may Camry, Camry pa den ang the best sa long driving (tahimik, mas malakas compared to econocars at hindi ramdam ang tagtag sa interior)

yeah, anything would be better than a local compact pickup... mas comfortable pa yung rear seat ng civic than the rear seat of a compact pickup, at matagtag din yung pickup...
siguro kung f150 or sport trac yung pickup, ok for long trips hehe
