let's see....there's no number of accidents per model recorded, so we have no choice but use the number of units sold per model:

toyota avalon - 30,000 units sold per year (my best guess, but i would beat it can hardly reach that figure)

ford f150 - 800,000 units sold per year

toyota avalon - 60 deaths / 30,000 units sold = 0.002 or 0.2%
ford f150 - 238 deaths / 800,000 units sold = 0.0002975 or 0.02975%

...so the ford f150 is 10 times safer (0.02975% vs. 0.2%) than the toyota avalon (which has the least number of deaths) if computed based on the number of units used (sold) assuming all the units sold have accidents and those presented deaths are true.

you must have missed to read this at the top of the chart:

"The numbers are expressed in fatalities per million cars, both for drivers of particular models and for the drivers of the cars they hit."

sorry, i missed that info. but nevertheless, f series (110 128 238) is not the worst if we really have to look at it because the number of fatalities on the driver of f series versus the driver of the vehicle hit is lower compared to the toyota Toyota Tacoma (111 59 171), Chevrolet Cavalier (146 41 186), Dodge Neon (161 39 199) and Pontiac Sunfire (158 44 202). also, remember that most buyers of f series are using their pickup to haul/carry heavy loads which make it even worse during the collision.

but isn't it that the US have a new regulation requiring cars must not also cause serious damage to other vehicles in a collision, especially SUVs? the new expedition complied by making its front bumper lower (nearer the ground). i don't know about the new F series trucks. but based on the chart, the death it caused on the other vehicle is more than double that of the other cars in the chart.

Two things. If you're driving a mini cooper, and you're about to meet an accident, try to hit a wall, whereas if you're driving F150, try to hit the smaller moving vehicle.

if the F150 was such a pain in the ass... why is it still the best selling vehicle in the US for almost like forever?

btw, why don't we compare the F150 against something of its own size... say a Silverado or Tacoma would be nice...

the comparison it is like comparing the Mini Cooper against the F150 for its tow rating.

This is just to show how irresponsible ford is. they are not even comparable with the smallest guy. How much more with the big guys/cars?
