It all boils down to different gearing ratios; if tranny has low speed gear, meaning smaller gear (bigger numerical ratio), most of the 1st & 2nd gears can be skipped since it will move much heavier loads than empty cargo. Plus the fact that differential gears need to be accounted for. Heck, even an International tractor head can pull its own weight from stand still at 4th gear.

Most vehicles sold out of the factory for people mover are engineered for high speed purposes, meaning your vehicle can be loaded to a limit where it can pull its own weight when loaded. Trucks were meant to carry heavy stuffs, hence, lower gear ratios, but not much high speed output.

siguro pwede 1st gear tapos pag nagroll na konti ang sasakyan change to 2nd. Masama pag 2nd gear ang gagamitin pang start

yung second-gear start sa mga automatic (including "manumatics") designed for low-traction surfaces yun. magkukulang yung torque for dry pavement, although mukhang di hirap dahil sa A/T. but still, let first gear do it's job. malaki ang difference ng ratio ng first gear and second gear sa mga kotse hehe.

You only bypass first gear if the load on the vehicle and terrain requires it, say if you put a truck engine in a jeepney body it shouldn't have any problems because of the relatively lighter load.

Getting rolling on slippery surfaces would benefit from bypassing first gear and jumping on to two or even three to get traction.

sayang clutch, increase fuel consumption, because of more buwelo before going to 3rd gear

99% ng mga jeepney na nakikita ko 2nd gear kaagad sila. ewan ko lang bakit.
