Kung sa Pilipinas lang.... pwede na RAV4. Importante kasi sa Pinoy ang appearance over practicality at convenience not to mention engine technology and safety.

Toyota intentionally designed the RAV4 to retain its original size and not to compete with the growing opposition. Looks are relative too.... we cant do anything if a car looks a a squirrel in the lights of a Mack truck in I95. Like i keep saying, if you want size, go for the escape. Diba its the number one mini-ute diyan sa states?

As for the Philippine comment, I was basing my answer for Philippine-usage and perception of the car. :P
BTW, I have a 2VZ-FE engine and even though is is 13 years old, I have nothing but praises for it 8)

From my take of things, this is just a thread to survey opinions about the different models mentioned. This isnt really a contest, just a pool of opinions, hence, no winners, no losers. I have owned both a Gen2 CRV and a Gen2 RAV4. I chose the rav, coz of personal reasons, which of course do not apply to all people. I like honda a lot. Actually, I grew quite fond of my kid cousin's Pilot when i was there last month. But it doesnt make sense for me to require a big cargo space and seats to fit an extended family. Why is this so? Coz i already have a truck. All practicality issues for this poster are already solved by that.
Philippine drivers are the same as any other. We all want value for our hard earned bucks. Kaya lang sa Pinas, it takes quite a while to get a car. So we have to make sure the car were getting is worth the money.
peace

Aheheeh! IMO, maganda naman CRV :D Yun lang nga medyo tinipid kasi ng Honda Cars Phils. kasi they really want to sell it cheap here, para maka compete sa Tamaraw. Well, they actually got what they wanted. :D Im sure opinions around here will change once the new tax laws are passed. There are rumors of an international spec CRV in the wings. :D

I may have a CR-V but I call them as I see them...... ewan ko ba, nahahawa na yata ako ng mga Kano. Among the 3, the Escape would be my unlikeliest choice. The V6 Escape is something else though.

April 27th, 2003 10:55 AM #19Honda CR-V is bestseller for first quarter of year
The Honda CR-V topped the commercial vehicle segment for the first quarter of the year with sales of 3,967 units.
The CR-V has now become the best-selling vehicle in the country. With the CR-V selling 1,803 units in March, Honda was given a boost to achieve the highest monthly sales record of 2,002 units since December 1997.
In appreciation for the market’s overwhelming response, Honda introduced the 2003 CR-V that highlights comfort and leisure. Now available at all authorized Honda dealerships nationwide, the 2003 CR-V is now loaded with added interior features for extra convenience as well as safety.
The 2003 CR-V’s driver side window is now operated with an automatic up and down switch plus the ‘pinch-free’ feature. The ‘pinch-free’ feature avoids any obstruction when the window is rolling up, stopping when it detects that something is caught between. Also, for added ease, a central door lock switch is installed in the driver’s side.
The automatic transmission variant of the 2003 CR-V is fitted with a front beverage cup holder.
With the new generation 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC (Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control System) engine, the CRV delivers powerful driving performance with the outstanding fuel economy. The i-VTEC DOHC engine which is compact, lightweight and quiet is the fusion of VTC (Variable Timing Control) and VTEC innovation.
With safety as one of the highest considerations, only the most advanced safety technologies and features are in the 2003 CR-V. Based on Real-World Crash Test at Honda R&D, the CR-V achieved the world’s highest level of crash safety performance. Fitted with standard four-wheel disk brake integrated with ABS (anti-locking braking system), additional security is assured especially when forced to make sudden stops. An added Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) provides a good balance for brake response. Also, seat belts with pretensioners and dual-SRS airbags are standard features in the CR-V.
For further enhanced security for the owner’s peace of mind, a new “Wave” key comes as standard equipment. This key provides as an anti-theft device since it is highly difficult to copy or duplicate.
The 2003 CR-V is available in 2.0-liter manual and automatic transmissions and in sporty colors: Monte Carlo Red, Satin Silver and Clover Green. A limited Edition CR-V is also available in automatic transmission with the exclusive Night Hawk Black color.

i'd go for the rav4 sv for its looks, engines and exclusivity (something the crv can't give).
the escape 4x2 is a close 2nd, its engine is very wimpy
