    Activists Must Blame Cows!

For the last decade ‘green’ groups, science ‘experts’, and some publicity-seeking politicians, have demonized motor vehicles such as SUVs for being a major contributor to global warming.

While we are very supportive of any initiative that encourages mankind to live in harmony with nature, the level of hysteria and false information about global warming, and its causes, has been frightening.

It came as no surprise to us that a recent report from a department of the United Nations blames cows, not cars, for the greater contribution to global warming.

The report published by the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations states that livestock generates 18% more greenhouse gas emissions, as measured in CO2, than transport. It also says that the methane produced from cow manure accounts for 65 percent of all human-related nitrous oxide - which has 296 times the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of CO2.

Henning Steinfeld, Chief of FAO’s Livestock Information and Policy Branch and senior author of the report said, “Livestock are one of the most significant contributors to today’s most serious environmental problems. Urgent action is required to remedy the situation.”

The report further highlighted the fact that the land and water degradation (caused by livestock) has caused about 20 percent of pastures to be now considered as 'degraded', due to overgrazing, compaction and erosion.

Will we see any anti-SUV groupies including cattle in their infantile agendas? We doubt it.
