Perhaps, with the knowledge learned and skills obtained in producing mazda vehicles and their very own anfra, plus application of inexpensive newer technology, they can bring back Anfra on a piecemeal basis (pakyaw mula o per order ang gawa, parang jeepney. Then pag dumating bulk orders then dun na lang mag-isip ng mass production. I think retrofitted anfra is the best PHUV model that can be released by FMC in cooperation with MVPMAP. Or Sila mag produce nung sa Tsikot PHUV model Z or MVPMAP PHUV. or a combination of both.
--I still believe the PHUV project will succeed, its just a matter of right planning and marketing.
--If there is will, there is a way.
--Go PHUV!

How about the Morales Motors of San Mateo, Rizal and Melford? They are the mass producer of Public Utility Jeepney during the 80's and 90's. Is there any news from them? I really like their jeepney mind! They are modern and colorful.
Here in Britain, I saw a Filipino made Jeepney during the annual classic Carshow in Singleton Park. I'm really proud when I saw it. It's the only Filipino Made Jeepney you can see in Britain's Motorway.

September 26th, 2007 09:38 PM #64I wonder if that's the Jeepney that a British teacher had custom-built in Baguio. His plan was to ship the jeepney to Thailand and Drive it all the way to Britain via the dessert. It has a folding bed at the back
If that's the one, it's nice to know that the chassis and engine from the Philippines passed the European safety and environmental standards
The jeepneys in Paris were actually built using a French Chassis and French engine by Sarao, kaya medyo iba proportions niya from the local ones.

September 26th, 2007 09:50 PM #65Right now the jeepney I like best are the aircon jeepneys of David Motors. Ang ganda sa loob, ang lamig, and they can come with Brand New Engines
. Ang mahal nga lang if Brand new lahat. Pero there is a price kapag high quality talaga.
Im not sure how they are different from the aircon jeepneys of Tolentino Motors and/or FG Motors.
Actually that's one of our problems here sa Pinas. Kapag locally produced yung sasakyan, we expect it to cost A LOT LESS... kaya our hand-made vehicle makers dont earn much to do better R & D.
Sa europe for instance, hand-made vehicles such as Volvo's, Jaguars, and Rolls Royce's are more expensive than their imported counterparts precisely because they are HAND MADE. Pero dito sa atin kapag hand made at local pa we expect the price to be even lower.
Yung AMC Hammer, for instance, should fetch a much much higher price. If we were in Europe and we had made the AMC Hammer there with the similar quality, the selling price would be higher than a Land Cruiser. That's why even the small car producing shops in Europe can really survive and can do really good research for better quality.
