August 8th, 2007 04:59 PM #1Hello po. I have a problem with my car's accelaration. Ang hina ng hatak. My car is a Nissan 4-speed A/T ECCS 1.6L engine. Had its oil changed recently but still mahina pa rin ang hatak . Nalinis na rin ang air filter at spark plugs nito. Medyo nakakatakot lang magovertake baka mabitin. I have to shift from D to 2 para lang makahatak pero parang kulang pa rin. Ano po kaya ang puwedeng gawin para lumakas ang hatak nito? Xtra unleaded po ang gas ng car ko.
Salamat.

Go with a tune-up first by changing your spark plugs (Are you using the correct plugs?) and adjusting your timing and check/change your fuel filters. if it persists, have other items like the MAF sensor checked/cleaned (make sure the mechanic is knowledgeable on this). Do you get any erratic idling? Does the car have a hard time revving to high RPMS (this is symptom of a miscalibrated or busted MAF sensor)?
When was the last time the ATF was changed?Last edited by vinj; August 8th, 2007 at 05:40 PM.

August 8th, 2007 05:58 PM #4I haven't had my ATF changed from the time I bought the car (6 months ago) though I checked it and its within the optimum level. Color is reddish and clear. Idling is at 1,100 rpm when the engine is cold but goes down to 800 rpm when hot.
I'm not sure if I'm using the correct plugs but a mechanic said that the plugs are ok when he cleaned it. Air filter was also cleaned. Maybe I should have the fuel filter checked, adjustment of timing then the MAF sensor checked/cleaned.
Thanks Bro!!

Usual plugs for the GA16 engine is NGK BKR6E.
On the MAF sensor, it's sensor right after the airbox. it's sensitive and should not be touched nor adjusted. it can be cleaned with electric contact cleaner. Try dropping by a Nissan CASA and have them do a CONSULT readout on the engine to see if everything is running up to spec... a shop like Speedyfix or Autotechnika can also do an engine scan.
