i had my share of this leaky radiator cap problem ... and yes, it is easy to overlook as there is no visible leak ... water is leaking as vapor, not liquid ... i only found out when i decided to "listen" for leak instead of "looking" after shutting off the engine from a trip

as i have relatively new rad cap (few moths old), i believe replacing it would only fix the problem temporarily so i tried adding another layer of rubber seal from a tire interior laying on my workshop ... problem solved permanently!
