wow, nabanggit na ata ng lahat...sa akin, 2nd driver is a must, pero pag wala, bring stuff to keep you awake (kape, red bull, candy, siling labuyo ). the most effective for me is a sprayer bottle full of cold water. pag inaantok na ako, isang spray lang sa mukha, fresh na naman ako.

iwasan mo lang mabasa kasama ang mata ..masama yata ito pag pagod ang mata sabay nabasa

very timely 'tong thread na to....

tama lahat ng sinabi ng fellow tsikoteers, paki-add na din, check your tires especially yung mga nuts, make sure na tight and secured ito, we tend to overlook this pero this one should be done also...
pero importante sa lahat is safety, be alert at all times...kalamansi is better alternative sa kape, isang patak lang kikiligin ka na, gising lahat ng ugat mo...hehe,

saka wag magmamadali, better arrive safely than sorry.

Map out early your routes, and in cases, have some contingencies in cases of road emergencies, a map or a guide is helpful.

To top it all....Enjoy kung saan man ang punta nyo...kahit pics na lang pede na pasalubong...pics ng pagkain...hehe!

the Lark, taga bicol ka pala.

last year umuwi ako sa Tabaco, dumaan ako via Camarines Norte, ang ganda ng daan compared sa Tagkawayan, medyo mahaba lang nga ang biyahe.

mukhang di ako makauwi ngayon sa Tabaco, may ibang plano, my grandparents are from Hindi, Bacacay and both of my parents are from Tabaco.

uyy, ok ito ah. ako din i plan on making a trip down south...manila to samar to be exact. good luck to us both 'adre, haha.

civic ek a/t? torn between two cars ako, i have one like yours, and a manual cr-v. gusto ko civic dalin kse a/t, pero gusto ko din yung crv kasi powerful tsaka maluwag, kapagod nga lang lalo kasi manual.

anyway, if i were taking my civic, ganito check ko:

    1. fluids - oil, brake, coolant (very important. summer kasi you don't want your coolant boiling off in the middle of nowhere in 34C heat).
    2. engine valve clearance - if you follow PMS like the previous owner, the casa may have done this for you na. be aware of any weird noises in the engine now...weird noises sometimes turn into full blown mechanical problems if you run the engine for hours on end in very humid, high rpm conditions.
    3. a/c and tint - sure they look fine, pero the a/c could suddenly go because it has not been maintained for a while, and the sun, if you don't have any installed tints, will burn your arms and face and cause you tremendous fatigue. trust me on this...i ran manila pagudpod with no tints...i felt like i crossed the ****ing sahara when i got there.
    4. high octane gas - don't believe the horsehit about 93 unleaded giving you more kilometers per liter...high octane gas will burn more slowly, evenly...that is why you feel more hp at the dynobutt when you load up on velocity or blaze or whatever. you get savings at the pump with 93 unleaded, pero you do have to stop more frequently.
    5. run a couple psi over the minimum tire pressure recommendation - the tire will have less rolling resistance, giving you better throttle response/fuel economy. downside is medjo matalbog ang ride.
    6. blast your air filter with compressed air to clean it - a clean air filter will give you a bit more hp, period.
    7. a/t fluid - use only atf-z1 from honda. mahal pero the tranny will only work with this fluid.

hmm, haba na nitong post...dami pako naisip eh pero its more of the usual. good luck on your trip pre...the ph16 engine in your civic is a sturdy engine...it will not let you down, provided you take care of it.

the lark: I am a bit concerned because you're telling us that you're a newbie and driving to Bicol. Make sure that your co-pilot is talking with you all the time during the long trip. Get a good rest.

Never never never continue driving if you feel very tired. It is much safer to look for a spot to take a walk or a rest rather than risking falling asleep while driving.

Hope you have a safe and uneventful travel

i see, i have friends in catbalogan.sarap tahong dun, esp. sa motiong at jiabong.very cheap pa, imagine P100 isang sako na. hehehe

i don't have any idea on the fare but i thinks it's more than a thousand. i will try to ask some friends who have been there with their cars.

    * CVT, thanks a lot for the concern. This will be my first long distance trip but I have been to other places already outside Metro Mla like Clark in Angeles and other nearby places in Laguna.

We will be a convoy of 2 vehicles actually and we promised to take a rest after 2 or 3 hours of driving. Para ma-enjoy na rin scenery along the way.
