Ha?! My brother bought a second hand altis 1.8G. 22+k lang mileage nito nung binili nya. But after 4 months 86+k na agad ang mileage nito and he didnt even went out of town on that car. sabi nya nag jump raw yung mileage nung mag 30k na mileage nya. instead of 30k it went to 40k then when it suppose to go 50k it went to 60k. lagi na dadag dagan ng 10k yung mileage nya then when he reach 100k it went back to 0k. Do u think my brothers ODOMETER is tampered?

September 18th, 2006 01:43 AM #33This is just my opinion...
Most of the time I think if the odometer jumps its reading, it has definitely been tampered. An odometer isnt exactly a very complex device. Just like a water meter. Even our 23 year old car has an odometer that had never jumped a digit. Of course it is entirely possible that there is a problem with the odometer, but this is highly unlikely.
Instead of just looking at the mileage, look at other indicators, how worn out is the steering wheel, seats, pedals, etc., Have the tires been replaced? How about the shocks? Sa pagkaka alam ko kasi shocks and tires would last more than the measly 30-40,000 kms.

Speedo sensors are usually throw away items. They are rarely serviceable. Plugging a new one in on a Pajero is a 10 minute affair. The sensor itself cost close to Php5k at the dealer. Around Php2,500 in Banawe (BestColt).

Hi Guys,

for one, ang daling baklasin ng speedo assembly. had done it in less than 15 minutes.
pangalawa. i would suggest that you try to consult other reputable shops for the timing belt. ang timing belt kasi, may look new, but in reality, nawawala na yung pagiging pliant and stretchability ng goma. also, there might be small cracks inside the belt which can affect the performance of the belt, and might cause big damage in the future. if you have time, try to bring it to speedyfix.
pag nacheck na yung tb, then that will be the time you can validate if your speedo/odo has been tampered with. mas malaking issue yung TB eh. if it has been tampered with, then definitely, wala na tayong magagawa dyan. pag ok pa yung TB, then suspect a defective sensor, which you can deal with later.
one more question. ngayon, pag tumatakbo ka, ano nangyayari sa ODO? tumatakbo naman sya ng maayos? nag rereflect ba ng correct distance or something?

Madali lang alisin ang instrument cluster. I used to take them out of the company cars dun sa pinagtatrabahuan ni baiskee. I know it's bad, hindi ko na ginagawa ngayon.

Ask ko lang kung may mabibilhang digital odometer sa banaue? any ideas with regards to the cost? May nagpapalit kaya nun sa Banaue?
Nakakairita lang kasing tingnan yung Metro lalo na't yung 188k mileage yung nakabungad agad ..
Looks like it is held by adhesive.
