Soaked Computer Box

I have a '02 Honda City. Inabot ng flash flood ni Milenyo sa garahe and the interior got soaked. I immediately disconnected the battery cable from the power source when i arrived home then removed all seats and upholstery. When I checked the computer box, 1/3 of it got wet so I disconnected the wirings to let it dry.
Question: safe na ba na i-reconnect ko na ulit at i-try ko mag-start ng oto? what's the best thing to do?

pa check mo na lang sa casa, baka mag short yun computer box mas malaki pa gastos. well, that is kung di pa sya sira now. and you might have water na pumasok sa makina mo, you don't want that to start the car with water in the engine kasi overhaul ang mangyayari nyan. but again kung pinasok na nga ng tubig, kailangan na talaga overhaul.

yes sir, let it dry muna. then, bring it to casa to have it checked.

You can open the case up and air dry it. Minsan kasi may parang wax cushion ang ECU, baka hindi matuyo ng maayos kung naka-kulob.

yep. tama, patuyuin lang muna maigi. kasi yung friend ko na may mazda 323F pinilit paandarin yung kotse nya after malubog sa baha. ayun, umandar kaya lang erratic na. yun pala sira na yung ECU.

Nabasa ba sa loob yung box? Gamitan mo ng hair dryer at siguraduhin mong tuyo na bago mo subukan.

dalhin mo sa trusted mechanic mo para mas sure...baka mag-short yan at mag-cause ng mas malaking gastos sa auto mo...

use WD-40 para malinis iyong mga component then let it dry or use hair blower.

most of mechanic and even in electronics suggested WD-40 to remove the corroded parts and prevent to become worst lalo na iyong mga pins the component.

I dont know with other friends in the forum what they suggest but for me WD-40

Spray it with WD-40 and air dry it with compressed gas. That should do it.

change oil ka muna bago paandarin, baka may tubig na nakapasok sa makina mo

thanks for all the posts..
just yesterday, i re-installed the computer box. and the car started ok. here's what i did: i took it off the car. opened the box. cleaned up the stucked mud off the components with contact cleaner. checked the components (diodes, capacitors etc) if working ok. medyo corroded na yung transistor kya i had to take it off the board and had it soldered well. nung kinabit ko sa oto , nag-start naman at smooth naman yung idle.
ang nasira was yung blower ng a/c, masyado yata ako na-excite nung umandar kaya binuhay ko rin, ayun, ayaw na gumana pero i hope fuse lang.
next steps: change engine & gear oil, clean up brake pads, have the car diagnosed sa casa & tune up na rin then clean up evaporator & blower ng a/c. kung may suggestion pa po kayo, pakisuyo na lang na i-post para magawa ko rin. salamat dami...

do not use WD40 for electrial components, this is only use to prevent rush and lubrication. baka makaroon ng short circuit.
Use Contact cleaner, this is really for electrical componenets, it cleans and dries up immediately to prevent short circuit. may nabibili nito sa Ace in small aerosol can.
Kung pinasok ng tubig yong engine mo, do not try to start it. pachek mo sa mehanics para ma drain yong tubig + oil sa loob ng engine, baka hindi na kailangan ng overhaul.

wag ka na sa CASA tatagain ka don! Patuyuin mo lang and brush the mud away hehehehe ganyan din akin eh maayos naman. WD-40 ok din!
