My personal experience is that be wary of shops and mechanics who would suggest a tranny overhaul agad. Yung sa akin kasi, less than 2 minutes lang yung diagnosis, recommendation agad is to overhaul. Quoted me over 30k. Ni wala man lang thorough check-up kung ano talaga cause. Dapat kasi, pati electrical/electronic components ng AT, tinitignan.
In my case, my tranny's OK now. The D4 light kept blinking, and the tranny wasn't shifting automatically. So I had to manually shift pa (D4, D3, 2 & L), which defeats the purpose of having an AT. Dont know what happened, pinapalitan ko lang yung starter solenoid ko kasi nagloloko, syempre may mga tinanggal na piyesa. Nung binalik nila, aba, hindi na nagbi-blink yung D4! Until now, OK sya. I posted this problem earlier, and I suspected an electronic component was to blame.

November 14th, 2006 09:09 AM #17automatic transmission is one of the most complicated contraptions ever built for automotive vehicles. when doing overhaul the technicians should take all the pieces out one by one and examine all components for signs of wear.
better have it done by specialty shops with experience on your car make/model.
as for buying a transmission system sold in banaue: just always remember that these are surplus so you're not 100% sure if these are working perfectly.
just weigh the pros and cons.

Para sakin Banawe would be my last option. Brother ko bumili ng makina run, sira so tanggal na naman, bought another one from an Anitpolo shop naman, buti ok. Sa akin, kung di naman ganun kalaki difference in price, I'd rather have an overhaul than having to travel to banawe tapos sira pala, kalas ulit, balik sa banawe, singilin yung shop, etc.Buti kung irefund fully sayo ng shop yung binili mo sa kanila. Hirap. hehe.
