February 24th, 2007 08:52 PM #1I have lost oil pressure to my valve cam on the 1991 pontiac sunbird 2.0 engine.
the cam lobes are REALLY worn down.
had a "certified" mechanic change the cam and bearings.
he "missed" the oil flow problem
oil pump pusing 60 lbs to engine.
I suspect supply line plugged.
I am going to remove valve cover
drop oil pump
clean line from pump to cam housing.
flush with carb cleaner
flush engine with diesel fuel
drain engine and flush with fresh oil
install oil pump
drop oil pan and clean out metal pieces he missed.
install oil pan and gasket
add oil
start engine, i expect to see oil coming out of bearings, cam, carriers and other places on the cam shaft and carriers.
Does this sound like it is the right thing to do??
