mga sir ask ko lang po kung ano yun gmangandang tunog na nanggagaling sa engine ng fortuner na d4d??yung turbo po ba yung nariririnig ko or nadala lang ng muffler??naririnig ko po siya when accelerating on the gas??gaano po ba kalaki ang turbo ng fortuner yung size?diameter?yung psi?? and yung intercooler din po niya thank you po

nope, it doesn't have VGT turbo. Iba ang technology ng Turbo nila (much more less efficient). Considering their 2.5 can only pump out 102hp. A 2.2L VGT turbo can do 153Hp (~190hp ecu- maxxed).

December 16th, 2007 05:29 PM #5sa 2.5d4d facotry rated 102hp ...ordinary turbo lng same as other toyota turbo charger ct20..as for the 3.0L d4d it is equipped with a vgt turbo ... giving it a factory rated 163hp..

It doesn't either.
170hp (220hp ecu-maxxed) can be easily produced by a 2.5L CRDI VGT (KIA Sorento)

as for the sound effect,
that's what I like about the d4d, the turbo sound effect is loud. and it whistles early compared to older jdm rides like hilux surf, prado, land cruiser, etc... meaning, d4d is more responsive and starts immediately with it's very thin high note sound as you step on the gas.
older jdm rides takes little later to sound and the pitch starts from lower note, but the sound is more similar to a typical jet airlines. very nice sound but too soft to notice...
when it comes to power, it's a different story...
I would like to try that blow off valve... ricey but beneficial...
