A 302c.i. crate engine with a GT40 aluminum cylinder heads would cost you USD 3,200.00 without shipping cost.
I suggest you just buy TURBO's 302c.i., and just upgrade the cylinder heads with bigger intake & exhaust valves (edelbrock and trick flow comes into mind) and hardened valve seats so it can take unleaded fuel.
EFI is also very expensive. An edelbrock EFI kit for 289 and 302 engines would cost you $2,800.00. I suggest you just upgrade your carb into a new generation carb (holley dominator series carbs comes into mind).
you can also ask TURBO if he can source for you a manual toploader tranny. you can later on upgrade the classic tranny by installing a hydraulic system kit (from JMC), heavy duty clutch parts (ford racing), and shifter kits (from Hurst).
Please feel free to PM me for other tips. I've also restored and upgraded a Stang- a '67 (oops, sorry, still being worked on).Last edited by woodfire; March 26th, 2006 at 06:06 PM.
