MAS problem???

Hi guys,

How do you if you mass airflow sensor needs replacement?

I have 02 nissan serena, and the casa told me that my MAS sensor is already failing... ... symptoms namamatay kapag naka idle lang (pero ngayon parang ayos na)... The casa temporary cleaned the MAS since they told have the parts yet.

they verified it using their computer... (yung kinakabit sa port ng kotse).. anyway, ang sabi sa reading below specs na... (i cannot remember the exact figures) for example, the minimum value is 1.4, tapos yung unit ko 1.3...

anyway suggestion where i can have it repaired... Medyo mahal kasi ang parts.. 5K... (or alteration)...

if my memory serves me correct, parang sakit din ng sentra ang MAS...

Try to clean the maf/mas using contact cleaner first... also, try wiggling the connector itself, known case yan na lumuluwag ang connector ng maf ng nissan.

Search ka rin sa Google about MAF reground.

Aside from what Theveed mentioned, you can have the MAF regrounded (may DIY ito sa google). If the reading is below required, it could mean the resistance of the MAF or its wires are higher na.

The MAF is a sensitive part, i hope no one touched it directly. Bihira siya masira outright.

What CASA did you go to? A second opinion from another CASA may help.

another symptom of mass airflow sensor failure is slower acceleration and lower cruising speed. buti 5K lang sa serena, sa patrol gumastos ako ng 8K.

sounds like the same old B13 Sentra idle problem has surfaced in the Serena.

mas failure = pahina nang pahina ang hatak, delay acceleration, kung auto tran naman minsan ayaw magpalit ng gear minsan. Kung gagastos ka rin sa pagpapaayos, better replace it dahil di na rin yan magtatagal. Kung may kakilala kang may parehong makina ng sa yo hiramin mo muna yong mas/maf nya at ikabit mo sa yo, pag nagbago ang performance sigurado kailangan na ngang palitan.

performance wise.. I don't see any difference. Ang symptom lang nya ay kapag naka - idle ka, nag drop ang rpm ... anyway, after they cleaned the MAF mukhang ok naman. BTW, when I searched maf grounding puro nissan specially SR20.. hehehe... sakit ba ng nissan yan...

BTW, I am interested in regrounding my serena... would you think it will be a wise move?

Presently, wala pang stock ang MAF sa NMPI... sucks..
