    hello newbie here,

I've gone to auto repair shop for an estimate regarding the worn out parts on my honda civic '97. I know the mechanic and trust him. He quoted the part needed to be replaced to a tune off 30K. This is because the shop that he works for is like a casa. Previously, this mechanic offers under the table "home service" but beecause of hectic schedule in the shop he can't accomodate me.
So, i went to banaue to canvass for parts and to my delight I got part way below the quoted price. Syempre, i consulted my freind mechanic if the parts i canvass is good. and he said its fine, basta ung mga importanteng parts like timing belt, and the likes are orig. The auto shops there at banaue also offers installation of the parts? Is this a wise move? Kailangan ko lang kasi mapagawa na to kasi gamitin namin sa holy week and i don't want to use this without fixing the problem. And also, medyo higpit din ako sa budget.
    pls help.

It would be helpful to know which parts need to be installed/replaced. Yung mga bolt-on or anything straightforward, ok lang, but if you have something that needs to be adjusted after installation or something that needs proper torque I'd go with a trusted mechanic.

yup. tip > timing belts and fan need not be branded, ako i use gates(US) or contitech(germany) belts...1/4-1/2 the price, same din ang palitan(every 3-5 years(45T-60T kms).(example 2c-turbo timing belt toyota orig:1700, bili ko ng contitech t. belt: 500, sa maxima ko, gates t. belt costs something like 300, ang nissan orig parang 1200..)

timing belt always buy the Original... Kung timing belt bring it to a trusted shop... Kasama sapat sa T.Belt ang crank shaft oil seal, cam shaft oil seal, Bearing and water pump... yung suspension ok lang sa banawe pakabit... but may mga shop na mura din maningil same as banawe.....

Avoid Banawe for repairs or whatever besides buying parts. Better go to a shop you know avoid the area as much as possible. I lived in that area for 30yrs laki ng pinagbago.
If you live in las pinas paranaque alabang area try Martins at the ATC no fake parts kahit replacement lang.

the biggest problem you will have is:
    1. the quality of the work
    2. the warranty for the work done.

Hindi sila OEM/Original but they are a reputable brand.

If wala ka talagang kilalang mechanic, try mo kay speedyfix or other mechanics recommended dito sa forums.

Is the installation of parts in banaue reliable?
