February 7th, 2004 09:49 PM #1ano pa bang oil ang pinapalitan sa isang diesel na vehicle (hyundai H100) aside from the engine oil? mag iisang taon na kasi sa amin itong h100 and change oil lang ang ginagawa namin every 3months. And btw kapag nasa 2nd to 4th gear tapos bumagal na yung takbo nung sasakyan may tumutunog na klang-klang sa ilalim nung sasakyan pero kapag tinapakan yung clutch mawawala yung tunog normal ba yun klang-klang at grinding sounds na yun?

You also have to change the oil in the transmission and the rear differential. On a Besta, that service is called for every 20 thousand kms. The fuel fiter and air filter also need to be changed as per the manual. If you don't have a manual, try borrowing one or the manual for the L300 Exceed since they are the same vehicle underneath.
The sound you hear could be your release bearing about to give way. I broke the one on my Besta. It requires a transmission pulldown and you should also change your clutch disk and pressure plate since the transmission is already disassembled.

February 8th, 2004 12:49 AM #3Jeff,
That sounds like some serious deterioration of your engine, especially since you change the oil only every 3 months. Diesel engines contaminate the oil twice faster than do gas engines, and therefore need an oil change in half the time(or twice as often). Lumakas ba ang usok dun sa tailpipe? Yung grinding noise, can that be heard only when the car is accelerating or decelerating while in gear with the clutch fully released? If so, it could be that your engine is hitting the chassis when torque is applied. This is caused by weak/damaged engine support/s. A faulty release bearing only makes noises when clutch pedal pressure is applied.

February 8th, 2004 01:08 AM #4sir walang problem sa makina wala ngang ka usok-usok. rimula-x ang gamit naming oil and palit din ng air and oil filter every change oil. about doon sa tumutunog klang-klang na may halong grinding sound when decelerating while in gear and the clutch fully released pero not when its in 1st gear higher gears lang. ano kaya problem nito and tuwing kelan ba dapat ang change oil ng diesel kasi 2-3 times a week lang namin gamitin yung sasakyan.

Sounds like it might indeed be bad engine support/s. The reason why you dont hear it as much in first gear is because of the mechanical advantage it has over the driving wheels. The higher the gears, the lesser the mechanical advantage of the engine as it goes more and more to the opposite end of the transmission. The more the mech advantage of the driving wheels, the more capable it is of twisting the engine on its supports. Chances aRE that the weak supports are allowing the engine to twist too much in its tight compartment, possibly causing the manifold to contact the chassis.

February 8th, 2004 12:36 PM #8If you have no problem with getting a little grease on your hands (you can use gloves, by the way), crawl under the van and try to yank the propeller shaft around to check if it is loose. Do the same with the exhaust pipe. It could also be the transmission supports, those rubber blocks that support the transmission underneath.
Getting to know your vehicle can really help save some money, especially since you wont be easily fooled into having a job done unecessarily, either by honest but ill-informed mechanics, or by scam artists pretending to be mechanics.

Pwede mo pa-check ang back lash ng differentials mo kung within spec pa. Pero babaklasin talaga yun. Hindi birong trabaho yun. Last resort mo na lang yun. Check mo muna yung relase bearing or pilot bearing. Ok pa ba clutch disc mo? Baka naman paubos na din sir.
