Nissan Gallery showed me the recommended oil for the gasoline cars by Nissan Phil is this:
    Caltex NX 15w40, API SJ/CG4

It's for use in both gas and diesel engines.
Has anyone tried this in their gas-engined nissans? How does it compare to the usual Havoline line of Caltex?

Hmm.. it looks like an entry level oil meeting menimum specs. Ito po ang kinakabit sa Frontier at Sentra namin when we have it serviced sa casa so far ok naman. After the warranty ay upgrade ko sila sa higher spec na SL at CI-4 oils.

The entry level oil of Caltex is SF rated (yung Five Star oil)... it comes in a can identical to teh one NMPI uses so some think its the same banana. The SJ rating is one notch down from the current SL so its not yet obsolete rating-wise.

But still, i bring in my own oils when i go for servicing.

    roydok,
Which oil do you plan to use after warranty? Can't you change oil within the warranty period?

    vinj,
What oil do you use on your nissan? Thinking of Citgo 500, 15w40, API CI4/SL oil for Xtrail- what do you think?

    I think Citgo is OK.

We use Petron Touring now because of the good price and it's SL rated (around P115 per L). Before, i was using Mobil XHC and Caltex Havoline Formula.
