October 8th, 2007 12:49 PM #1Good day po!
May tanong lang po.. kanina po umaga, nung i-start ko engine for warm up, meron ako narinig na konti pop sound then biglang umusok ang engine bay!... so bigla ko pinatay ang engine then kita ko galing usok sa distributor. I went to fetch a mechanic na lang kc takot ako baka masunog ang engine pag start uli. The mechanic found out and showed me na pumutok ang sinasabi nyang "condenser"? Since wala sya dala parts, by-passed muna ang condenser then tune-up nya.
Any bad effects in the long run w/o that part?
Please help. BTW: car is Toyota corolla gli 1994.
Thanks in advance

October 8th, 2007 01:08 PM #2It serves to limit wear-and-tear of the contact point from excessive arcing. Without a condenser, the car will run but the contact point experiences severe arcing and will not last. Hence, you would eventually replace both contact point and condenser anytime soon if you don't replace the condenser immediately.

October 9th, 2007 06:21 AM #4probably na ka electronic contact na yang corolla gli mo kaya walang contact point.
the condenser is a capacitor and a capacitor normally "stabilize" the flow of current. so kung kulang or malakas masyado and current ii-smoothen out nito.
as such, i think you should buy one and replaced the removed condenser. Mura lang iyon and the engine was designed to have it so put it back.
