UAE cracks whip on illegal workers
THE Philippine Overseas Employment Administration warned prospective overseas workers against using tourist visas in going to the United Arab Emirates.
POEA Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz said the UAE has started a crackdown on illegal workers.
Baldoz said UAE immigration authorities have been conducting random checks of establishments and companies to determine if they are employing expatriates with tourist visas.
"This is clear indication that immigration authorities are now seriously implementing the prohibition for visit visa holders to work, paid or unpaid, either on a part-time or full time basis," she said.
She said visa holders found violating the law will be immediately deporting after a detention of seven days.
Baldoz said Filipinos who intend to work in the UAE should not leave the country using a tourist visa because visit visas are issued strictly to tourists and not for employment.

* sir boeing, matagal na pong batas yan.... yung iba lang talaga ay nag ba violate... kung ok yung company, they will process your visit visa to employment visa before they will ask you to start for the work. so processing of visit to employment would take 2 to 3 weeks, pag na realese na yung employment mo, that time ka lang dapat magsimula sa trabaho. pero yung ibang company, kahit under process palang yung employment visa nila, pinagtatrabaho na nila yung mga visit visa holders. Then papangakuan ng employment, minsan naman, ginagamit lang sila until the duration of their visit visa lapses, then hindi naman pala kukunin....
Take Note:
1. Visit Visa holders are not allowed to work "Paid or Un-Paid".
2. Visit Visa holders can apply for a job, once they are hire, "The company must finish the formalities of changing their Visit Visa to Employment Visa before they require to start".
3. If anybody found violating these rules, Dhs. 10,000.00 will be fined for both parties, company and the person... Then the person will have to go for immediate deportation after serving at least 7 days in jail and paying the fine of Dhs. 10,000.00 (more or less P 140,000.00 in PI money).
