    Hi all,
I am the owner of a Nissan elgrand V6 3500cc petrol engine,
I am experiencing serious problems with my mass airflow sensor,

Sins I am living in kenya, I can hardly purchase any new parts for my Nissan,
Sins from when I purchased this car I am having failures of the maf sensor.

I am replacing the maf sensor with 2nd hand ones and this is approximately every 2-3 weeks.
This airflow sensor costs around 200 dollars over here so I'm spending lots of money on this issue.
    My question is the following.

Is this sensor to be replaced by a new one during maintenance .....?
Is this after a certain amount of kilometers ....?
My Nissan did a total of 77,000 kilometers .... Is this a common problem with this engine ...?
Sins we have lots of dust over here .... Would cleaning the sensor help...?

Is there anybody out there who experienced a similar problem...?
And what would be the solution for this ...?

Please anybody.... If any info let me know...
    Thanks

mr. ketel your mass airflow sensor is self cleaning. once you shut the engine down, there is a built in timer in the powertrain control module to heat the sensor wire up to burn the dust or contaminants off. maybe your air filter is not dust tight and the self cleaning mode is overwhelmed by the excessive amount of dust. you can purchase a mass airflow sensor cleaner spray. if it is available in kenya, the brand is crc, the part number is 05110 or visit their website at CRC Industries Global Home. good luck
