There is a nut in the center of the Patrol 4X4's hub. It is small so hardly anyone notices. Yes, you do have to get off the vehicle to engage it.
With full manual hubs, you also have to get off the vehicle and twist the hubs 1/4 turn to engage. Hanggang ngayon ito pa din ang gamit ng Toyota Hi Lux.
Auto engages when you shift into 4L or 4H. Disengages when you back up in 2H or when you press a button in 2H (ala Ford Ranger).

boybi: im not familiar with bilsteins, but with ome there are 2 types of shocks for the patrol, one supposedly for comfort and a stiffer one for more load capacity. when he tried the comfort type shocks medyo maalon masyado yun ride (his words). i have the softer shocks installed and didnt have any problems.
ARB probably knows more about this.

boybi::: Pumunta kami kanina sa Nissan UN Manila, kasama ko sina OTEP & chieffy. Inusisa namin yung 4x4 conversion. Yung kasama sa 210K conversion ay front prop shaft, front diff internals, front locking hubs, and 3rd row front facing seats. It only takes a couple of hours to fix everything daw. Dadalhin sa planta then pag balik 4WD na! At kasama na rin dun yung pag usisa namin sa bagong X-Trail on display. :D Kung meron lang sana akong 2.1M, haaaaaay...

Sabi ng service guy, two hours lang daw 4x4 ka na! Kaso sa planta pa gagawin kaya tumatagal ang proseso.
Ayaw pa magbigay ng breakdown ng parts needed! At sabi walang makukunan nun kundi planta. Ngek. Eh bakit sa mga Aussie mags, iisa lang ang ginagamit na parts ng GQ at GU on most components?
Yes, humiga ako sa showroom floor (in my uniform).

boybi::: Ah o nga pala! Yan existing unit mo may transfer case na! Dagdag pa pala ng transfer gear shifter and 4x4 logo. Wala silang binanggit na multimeter, I guess sa Banawe ang tuloy mo kung gusto mo ng surplus. And yes, literally umilalim si OTEP kanina dun sa showroom. Kausap naming yung sales rep and service guy nila. Hiningan pa nga ng autograph si boss OTEP. :D
