otep: i'm not sure if the 4x4 conversion will include manual or auto locking hubs. if we had a choice, which one would be better? can you give a detailed answer, im not that familiar with 4x4 systems.
Patrol rigs starting from GQ to GU series have auto/lock front hubs. So you won't have any choice but to conform with the standards. The earlier models the MQ series had auto front hubs which are now placed on Terrano models.

dx,
OEM hubs ng Patrol ay hybrid. Meaning mixed manual and auto function siya. They function like auto hubs most of the time, buy you can KEEP them locked by using your tire wrench.
If walang hubs, you can always buy branded hubs like Aisin, Warn, AVM, etc. Pero full manual ang mga ito. Hardcore off-roader na ang dating. hehehe.

according to that article, kapag 4x4 155 kph max na, as compared to 170 i did on 4x2. not that we go that speed often, but just thought you might want to know.
pero yung fuel consumption nya pareho sa akin. 15.90 liters/100 kms = 6.28 km/li. ako nakaka 6.5 - 7 li/km.Signature

August 18th, 2003 08:52 AM #114dx, if ever you have the choice i'd say go fot the manual, broke one auto hub and it's not nice.
but that hybrid hub is very very handy.

may GU patrol na nag pa install ng OME spring/shock combo na 4wd, I had the chance to see underneath. the transfer is there all the time, the shifter is leather wrapped and may leather din shift boot. i did not see the locking hubs as it has hub caps. IMO with what i saw i think you can just buy any drive shaft that will fit and get a shifter.
boybi - btw the pictures will try to get tomorrow hindi na charge ang digi cam.

Mas mataas ang front hubs na may switch for auto/lock function. Kung titignan mo yung front hubs mo, plain cover hubs lang yan na mukhang nippl*s.
