February 7th, 2012 07:06 PM #1171CVT's right. Your alternator is not giving enough current to your lighting system. Your alternator is or is not working, One way to check if it's working is that while engine is running at idle, remove the positive battery clamp from the battery. If the engine still runs, alternator's OK, but if engine dies, alternator's not giving current. If your alternator is OK, but problem persists, it means it's not giving enough current to your lighting system. Try to look for alternators with 90 or 100 ampere rating.
Oh, before I forget, before checking the alternator, did you check the belt tension to your alternator? It may be loose.
Good luck...

February 8th, 2012 10:49 PM #1174*bro filmor01 add lang konti kay bro macg..dont rev your engine while battery is disconneted...baka mag over voltage naman if gumagana yung alty mo..it might damage some of your electronic stuff and accessories na nakaplug sa vanette baby mo...other technique you may opt to do is..
1. start your engine then turn on your headlight to high beam. idle only...medyo baba ng mga approx 50 rpm idling mo dahil nagkaroon ka na ng load sa alternator.
2. have someone or you to observe the headlight in front of vehicle.
3. try to shut off the engine while headlight on.
4. if headlight intensity drops or lessen it means your alty is working otherwise kulang nga ang current rating ng alty mo.
to confirm bring your ride sa pinaka malapit or trusted car battery dealer to have your charging system checked.
sa akin upgraded na rin sa 100 amp ang alty ko..good luck bro.

February 21st, 2012 11:03 AM #1177Vanette Guru's & Chief's,
Forgive me for interrupting, i'm not a Vanette owner yet but am considering of buying one. I would like to ask your expertise if owning a diesel Vanette (local, LD20 engine converted only) would be a good choice as a family vehicle. I once started a thread about changing my existing car to a van and one of our kind member suggested the Vanette diesel. I was amazed by his experiences and points given to the diesel Vanette. Also, given the low cost and good aesthetics of the "For Sale" Vanettes, I'm really interested. So, would like to know if its reliable, easy to maintain, abundant spare parts, etc. By the way, I live in Biñan, Laguna, and would greatly appreciate if you can mention if spare parts would not be a problem within my proximity.
Thank you so much!
