I just wanted to insert that reality check. Especially since it's NMPI and UMPC we're talking about here. As far as I know, they only release models that are dictated upon them by Yulon of Taiwan, whose goal is to make the Philippines the eternal dumping ground of the oldest, ugliest, worst, facelifted/recycled models known to Nissan.
So you mean to say that our nissan rides were all old, ugly, worst, facelifted/recycled models? Yung patrol, xtrail, navara, urvan, teana, sentra, frontier are all damned nissan products???
Kindly post your proof/s to validate and vindicate your credibility. Thanks.

+1. Kung dumping ground ang Philippines based on this statement, para na ring sinabing dumping ground ang whole of Asia including the US because the Patrol and the Navara that we have here now is exactly the same models in other parts of Asia and in the US.

And this is not only applies to Nissan, sa mga ibang car brands din katulad ng sa Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi at iba pang members ng CAMPI. In other countries, matagal na ngang lumabas ang facelifted version ng Civic, dito sa atin e wala pa. After 1 full year siguro, baka iintroduce na yan dito. It helps to visit other websites relating to automotive industries of other countries like AutoIncar, What Car?, Yahoo!Car, etc. para sa ating information. Yun lang po.

The Patrol despite its numerous facelifts is more than 10 years old.

The Serena being sold here has been around since 2002, but it was a Yulon facelifted version of an original one which Nissan introduced in the late 90s.

The Sentra that is sold here was facelifted in 2004, but it is based on an older model in Taiwan.

The Urvan despite minor facelifts, has been around since before 1998.

Check out motioncars.com Car Chart to confirm.

I have nothing against Nissan as a brand. I love the Altima, Maxima, Armada, 350Z, 370Z, Quest and GT-R among other USDM models. I just wish local Nissan would take their cues from elsewhere, just not Yulon of Taiwan. Or if they have no other choice but to continue suckling on that teat, then perhaps they should consider demanding for some more of their interesting models in their lineup. The Quest minivan for example, has been sold there since 2007, why don't they bring that here? Is NMPI afraid that it will eat up the sales (if any) of the ancient Serena?

While we do typically get car models later than other markets, what with our car market being among the smallest in the world, Toyota, Honda, heck even Subaru are not THAT late in introducing models. This is a shortcoming that is exclusive to Nissan Philippines.

Late introduction of car models doesn't mean it's ugly, worst garbage dumped by nissan here. Facelifted yes. But worst and ugly? I disagree with that. Hope your former statements agree with your last post.

I beg to disagree. The whole Philippine domestic auto market is a pool of crappy cars along with crappier pricing. No wonder a lot of ricers are bent on "JDM" or "USDM".

There might be some truth to the "dumping" ground mentality of NISSAN or taking thier cues from Yulon. When i was shopping for an SUV last year, the X trail caught my attention for consideration. However after doing some research on it, i found out that its an "old" model, being here for quite some time now. I got the chance to see the new model abroad, all i can say is it looks bigger and better in all respects than the one marketed here. To make things worse, i can see them marketed on south and east african countries which i doubt have more purchasing power than us pinoys seeing thier situation there.

    Hi guys,

    Share ko lang to.

Sa SUV no plans about bringing in (so far) the pathfinder.

pero just to give you guys something to talk about ang suv that they are planning to bring in is the Armada. I think kasi dapat nang palitan yung body ng patrol kasi mejo tagal n sya. Baka ito ang ipalit nila (parang yung nangyari sa cefiro when they brought in the teana). Balita ko rin ipapasok nila dito ang latio. so far yun ang balita sa mga ipapasok soon. for the xtrail and sentra sori mejo hintay p tyo ng matagal for a new body. say hope for 2010 for a new body kasi ala daw talaga new body for 2009 for the sentra and xtrail.

Bringing in the Armada might be a possibility considering the inventory glut in USA. But definitely it's gonna be petrol powered.
