Here's the customary "Awarding of Grand Prize" picture at the Nissan dealer together with our Sales Agent, Sales Manager, and Service Manager

Just the vehicle itself...

Me and my mom, happy!

My mom prefers some privacy while inside the vehicle so the tint we chose to be installed is the dealer-supplied dark reflective (including windshield visor) plus light reflective for windshield below the visor (Php++).

What I like about the dealer supplied tint is that it may seem very dark looking from the outside but from the inside looking out, it's brighter. I had driven the vehicle with this tint setup inside the "dark" parking area of Trinoma and also during the night and me and my Mom don't have any visibility concerns.

Malaking tulong din yung light reflective "full" tint sa winshield. Kahit naka-high beam kasalubong mo, di nakakasilaw.

*number001: Wala talagang air vents sa second row. It is only a matter of proper positioning of air vent sa dashboard and don't worry many GL owners have no complain about the A/C of GL. I have tried it myself, fully loaded up to 3 rd row and mid day ay hanggang no. 3 lang yung A/C ko and thermo ay around 75% lang. To add, dito sa Yemen, nasa 45deg C and temp dahil summer dito pero yung mga Land Cruiser wagon namin wala ring air vent sa 2nd or 3rd row but kaya naman palamigin yung buong cabin.

Congrats again! Buti ka pa nakuha mo na yung pics nyo sa Gallery. Ako hindi pa. Si Nestle din ba SA mo (the guy holding the key)?

*2youta: bro san ba malapit yung Goldrich banawe, sa Quezon ave or E rodriguez? baka next monday ay punta ko run to inquire about the DVD/TV HU.

1.First and foremost and common to all vehicle is the proper break in of engine. Attached is a reference on how to maximize efficiency of engine thru proper Break In. Don't worrry if you cannot follow the regimen religiously like if you drive mostly on city streets. Stop and go driving is also good way to break in an engine. Avoid continous extended revving of engine at constant rpm. Vary your engine rpm from time to time as you drive normally(Not in static position).
2. Always put the Overdrive(OD) Position ON. If the OD is on OFF position(w/ warning on the instrument cluster), the transmission will operate only on the lower 3 gears.
3. If cruising, limit speed within the 80KPH to 100KPH range. The Grand Livina has good drag coefficient but wind drag multiply rapidly as you go over 100KPH.
4. If stuck in traffic, put the selector lever on "N" (Neutral) always. Maintaining it on "D" will load the engine with the drag of the transmission.
5. Avoid sudden acceleration and deceleration.
6. Check inflation of all tires. An under inflated tire will have more drag. Experiment on higher tire pressure that is within limit of the tire specs(this can be found on the side wall of the tire). A higher tire pressure will affect ride comfort.
7. Warm up engine in about 10 SECONDS only. Drive slowly for the first kilometer to speed up warm up. Auto transmission needs to be in their operating temperature to be efficient in transferring the energy of the engine to the ground. Warming up at idle and stationary will not accomplish this fast.
8. Load gasoline in the morning or at cooler temperature(raining). Gasoline expands a lot at higher temperature. Since gas dispensers measure in terms of volume, you can get more amount of gasoline in your tank if weather is cool.
9. Always fill your gas tank full and refill at 1/2 mark. A large void in your tank will increase the evaporation of gasoline due to its volatility.
10. Load gasoline with octane rating specified in your owner's manual. Higher octane rating means better detonation control during combustion and not necessarily better engine efficiency.
11. Check for unnecessary weight in your car. Heavy vehicle needs more engine power to move.
12. Avoid buying "Gas Saver" equipment or additives. It might lead to engine damage. The Grand Levina is equipped with higly advanced computers to manage engine function at the most optimum performance. Installing or using these devices will off set the function of your vehicle or again can lead to damage.
13. Plan your trips. Idling your engine for 1 hour(as in when you are stuck in traffic) is the equivalent of gas that gets you 40 kilometers at normal driving. If you have access to side roads to avoid traffic even if it is longer by a kilometer, do it.
14. If not necessary, avoid installing accessories like roof rack or roof luggage. This will increas wind drag.
15. Accessories such as body kits, if not properly designed, will increase wind drag. It might look cool but you will loose your cool on the gas pump.
16. Always keep your vehicle properly maintained. Check engine oil that it is in proper level. Over filling will create drag inside the engine. The Grand Livina will normally carry a little more oil when new due to the addition of special break in oil. However after the 1000KM oil change, put oil at its proper level.
17. Use only the correct Auto Trans Fluid as specified in the owner's manual. Doing otherwise will cause slippage in the transmission or possibly transmission damage.
18. If the urge to beutify your wheels come along, select the lightest aluminum wheel you can find. This will reduce unsprung weight and improve fuel economy.
19. Regularly clean your car. A dirty car will increase drag though just a little bit. This is the reason why race cars are very clean and shiny sleek. They even wax their undersides!
20. If the distance you need to travel is but a couple of kilometers it's better to walk if possible. You won't
waste fuel and it's good for your health.
HAPPY DRIVING!!!!!!

thanks 2youta ... i believe that most of the tips here apply for most cars also... very useful i must say!

Warmest Regards to the GL crew! may your tribe increase!

welscua: Yes, dre, si Nestle din ang Sales Agent namin. I brought along a digicam kaya may konting pictures. Maganda yang binabalak mo na DVD HU, he he...

-----------

My contribution to 2youta's list of tips... if you want to learn to drive smoothly and economically, gawin mong exercise/habit na mag-drive, na hangga't maari, ay hindi ka gumagamit ng preno.

-----------

Back to the topic...

As mentioned by 2youta before, our unit also didn't have the nut/clip/whatchamacallit that holds the side plastic moulding and floor carpet (under dashboard of driver and front passenger area).

It's a minor concern but there's a bolt sticking out, therefore, there should be a nut/clip/whatchamacallit installed para di basta-basta matatanggal/ma-dislocate ang carpet.

I mentioned this concern to our SA and like 2youta's experience, they also checked their test unit for comparison. Wala din nut/clip/whatchamacallit yung test unit nila.

And also like 2youta's experience, sinabi nila, they'll bring it up with NMPI. I'll definitely follow up the next chance I can visit the dealer.

On a different note, if you look at your front suspension, at the bottom of the suspension spring area, there's rust there. Kailangan ma-lubricate para maiwasan lumala ang kalawang.

Actually theres a lot of rust issuses on our GL, especially the ones released in Indonesia and Malaysia most of them are in the rear suspension but im sure Nissan did something on this already.
