I'd like to ask for an opinion regarding paint protection system... what shop would you recommend? I've read that BigBert's is the way to go - but are there any other options I can check out? Alex Restoration at Roosevelt any feedback about their service?
Regarding BigBert's, what's the advantage of their Optiguard paint protection system (5,500) versus the new paint protection system (1,200)? - prices from their website, for medium size cars
Thanks in advance for your inputs.
Cheers!

may tanung ako...ang test drive unit ba ng GL ay pwede ng angkinin/hiramin? may nakita kasi akong isang GL unit while i was parking(nagpapark dn ung test drive unit, back-to-back parking) which was written at the back "TEST DRIVE" driver side "YOUR WAY TO MACAU" so i'm so sure that it is a test drive unit of nissan...it was driven by a female driver carrying passengers of 3-5 (not sure). wasn't able to get a photo of it because nandun pa ang nagddrive ng test drive unit...

January 17th, 2010 11:35 PM #2295hi guys, post ko lang yung DIY na ginawa ko nung holiday last year. its a DIY door sills. we all know na walang cover yung sa ilalim ng pinto ng GL's natin and buying a door sill is costly (around 5k ata yung available with LED). i asked around from the innova peeps kung meron sila kilala na pwede mag-fabricate and they said that some of them made a DIY of it using a 3M anti-slip tape that are being used at bathrooms. i took some pictures para magka-idea kayo...
materials needed:
1. 3m anti-slip tape (bought at ACE, got the transparent one)
2. measuring tape
3. tape
4. scissors
here is the 3M tape that i used, me black sila kaso sobrang gaspang naman. parang liha
1. measure your desired length on the door then cut it.
2. as you can see at the pic, me isa pang tape na mas manipis sa baba. i wanted to cover the paint. so its up you kung gusto niyo gayahin or isang tape lang.
here's is the tape after cutting it, hindi ko pa tinanggal sa paper
and here is the finished product, since transparent siya hindi gaano obvious na may tape.
tip lang, me tendency na may air bubbles na maiwan after sticking it. medyo dahan-dahan lang ang pag dikit.
total cost is around php800 (tape and 3M tape). it took me around 1 hr & 30 mins. looks nice and OEM look...
thanks to the innova peeps from the other thread for sharing their ideas

I tried Big Bert's last year. Sa weather and road condition natin ay good for 6 months protection yung 1,200 pesos according to them. OK naman kasi yung minor scratches ay na-prevent ng PPS, yung sealer or wax bale ang nagagasgas instead ng paint. Madali rin linisin and prevent din nya yung water marks kahit natuyo sa ulan si GL.
SHARING IS CARING.....

January 18th, 2010 10:50 AM #2298i got my synthetic leather seats from seatmate last saturday. ok naman gawa and kahit papano mukhang OEM dahil sa wrinkles na pinalagay ko. here's the pics..
i forgot to tell seatmate na lagyan ng pocket for the seatbelt
nagpalagay ako ng pocket sa 2nd row
total cost is 7.5k and mga 3 days ang gawa. installation time is normally mga 1.5 hrs. mine took mga 3 hours kasi me adjustment sa 3rd row seat.

Wow! when it rains, it pours!
- Thanks welscua and DBanker for your inputs regarding BigBert's.
- Good DIY and thanks for sharing pictures of your seatcover project, alnr.
On the same question regarding BigBert's paint protection system / recommendations, I thought I'd share part of the email reply I got from one of the co-owners of BigBert's (tsikot handle: theveed)
"... It really depends. If you take a look at our website's pricelist, you'll see a lot of parallel services offered at different prices, it usually revolves around issues like how "hands-on" the owner is, how often he/she maintains their car clean, how much time the owner is willing to commit in this process (many don't they just don't give a crap about the car's looks), and so forth.
Our Optiguard Paint Protection system is really a periodical maintenance program like how dealerships make you go for an oil change every x number of months or KM. We firmly believe in habitual maintenance as opposed to "hard restoration" after the paint has been battered as the former will maintain and preserve the car's condition while the latter repairs an already damaged surface.
We normally recommend people to just avail Optiguard so we can maintain their cars for them all-year round in a quarterly basis.
However, a lot of our customers are also very hands-on and they just want us to make their new cars look the best it could. You might find that weird, but understand that ALL brand new cars (well, except the uber expensive exotics) are stored outdoors for months and months in the factory and the dealership before an owner actually buys the car. Throughout that storage period, a car is RARELY maintained by anyone until someone actually purchases the car. In that timeframe, a lot of contaminants, water spots, etc have already bonded on the paint's surface and our "New Car Paint Protection" does that. It uses the same materials and methods as Optiguard but it's only a one-time cleaning session and not a quarterly program...
.. In any case, please do look for our branch supervisors (they're the ones in white polo shirts) or managers (Vince - Ortigas / Jeff - Araneta) for an assessment and let them know your expectations so they can provide a fitting service recommendation. .. "
Cheers!
