Exactly my opinion!
The lower cost of diesel here I believe is artificial due to government subsidy. To recover the extra cost of the diesel engine, you need to clock several thousand kilometers to breakeven with the gasoline variant. Fuel consumption is almost the same for both engine variants. So diesel buyers actually just paid for the fuel savings in advance
If you really want cheap fuel, then why not convert your gas engine to LPG? It's a lot cheaper than diesel (.... until the gov't raises the price of LPG to near diesel prices .....). Same consumption daw as when your car was still running on unleaded with little or no power loss?
