bro, congrats again. there's no turbo lag on our navaras, that i would assure you. our turbos are using VGT's in which the vanes would response at around 800 rpm or so. that means it's just above your idling rpm and those vanes compensate so that there will be a pressure build up in the system. most likely the cause of what you have experienced was that you were not in correct gearing. keep practicing on those gears.
btw, tell me when you are in davao and i will let you drive my navara for you to see and feel the difference between the stock and mine hehehe

thanks. i really plan to go to davao via bukidnon sometime in may or june (not yet sure about the exact sked though). i'll give you a heads-up once final na. i would really not miss the opportunity to try out that 200 hp beast you got there in davao. impressed na nga ako sa stock eh. btw, re: the K&N filter for the navara is the one with part # 33-2080. if you happen to order these, reserve one for me also along with the item I PM'd you about.

TO EVERYONE who are still trying to decide which pick-up to get: this is the one (i'm in no way connected to or being paid by NISSAN, ha). i've been through that stage also for quite some time. test driving one vehicle after the other. some pick-ups may be better at low-end torque, some boasts of bang for the buck and dashboard toys, better after-sales service, better ruggedness, but over-all the NISSAN NAVARA is KING of the hill. TOP-DOG
of course that title for me comes with a bit of (some may think heavy) price premium but then again, thats also the price for that sense of pride, some degree of exclusivity. WELL WORTH IT, I KID YOU NOT.

March 24th, 2010 02:02 PM #2917FYI.
My D40 Navara had a clutch failure at less than 4700 kms that resulted to the burnout of some parts there like the pressure plate, clutch lining and flywheel. Luckily nobody was hurt during this failure. It has never been loaded or towed for heavy loads and mostly used as a passenger car.
I've been Google for a lot of cases like this mostly users from Australia, Europe & Africa. And there is one instance that upon he bought his nav he had a clutch failure at 300kms and again at 3000kms. Another repairing mechanic told that the Nissan is fitted with a light clutch as standard due to the majority of vehicles never towing anything. Herewith some few links to issues like this.

Nissan should fit this to our Navara, see the link.

Hoping that Nissan Davao will take it as warranty and Nissan should recall this issue like what Toyota did.
Thanks.

March 24th, 2010 04:17 PM #2918well, from the seat of my pants (very subjective) THE 3.2 STRADA and the monterosport and the ford ranger 3.0 seems to accelerate faster from standstill. maybe due to the bigger displacements of these or maybe like sir ghost_recon mentioned, baka nga di ko pa sanay ang shifting sa gears ng navara (proof is the series of 4 stalls i had early on.)

If we're talking 4x4 M/Ts the bigger displacement pickups' acceleration do feel like they pull stronger specially at low end RPM. The Ranger, Dmax, Hilux and Strada in that order. Their engines have a flatter torque curve over a wider RPM band. That's why its easier to get the most out of the engine of the others. You just gun the accelerator, basically. In the Navara its not as straightforward. You have to short-shift through the gears to get the most acceleration before you get to top speed. Although I attribute the "faster" feeling of acceleration by the other pickups to bad damping by the suspension.
Niky of Big Big Car timed the 4x4 M/T's of the Ranger and the Navara and the Ranger was faster to 100Kph by hundreths/tenths? of a second. I was actually surprised by this, since the Ranger does feel faster than that. But given that the Navara is bigger (more drag), heavier (more normal force) and is sitting on wider tires (bigger coefficient of friction) than the others, this is ok with me.
I can attest that these tablet types don't leave any marks nor is it harsh on the washer system. I...
