Nexan thanks for the pictures...I really cannot tell if the flares are not as pronounced as they are on the 4x4...But those tires look really thin, looks like an immediate upgrade (or else you'll be constantly burning rubber with the power of that engine
). If you have anymore pictures that would be appeciated.

January 11th, 2008 06:55 PM #214In between the ranger and the navara, i will choose the navara. From what ive experienced from rangers, the engine is good only while the motor is new, the availability of parts is also a major problem. The new Ranger-Trekker is using the old platform(chasis) with the same crampy backseat and unprecise recirculating-ball steering. The only improvement made with the ranger was the re-modeled front and back design and the high-ride configuration (axle over the leaf springs). Although Rangers motor is at par with the Navara, the comparison with regards to the performance is still in between the Strada and Navara. Again, this is based from my opinion as this may vary from peoples preference.

January 12th, 2008 11:40 PM #215Got my Navara 4x4 a/t,2 days ago.I tried driving it with the stock rim and tire, and it was really a smooth ride, parang sedan.I replaced my stock rim and tire with a AWC 20" chrome-plated rim wrapped with the new Pirelli Scorpion STR Series 50,and expect the ride to have a big change but I was wrong, only about 10% decreases in its riding comfort, I thought it would change, because with my Nissan Patrol with 20" rim,you could feel its bumpy ride esp. with the kind of road we have here in the Philippines. Maybe Nitrogen really helped a lot but still its with the car,how it was made and designed.
I decided to get the Navara for the following reasons ( After test driving the Hilux and the Strada ):
1. Basically, its a family brand---my first car is a Nissan Sentra Exalta STA 2000,and its doing well til now,my Dad had a Nissan Power Eagle and a box-type Nissan Patrol, and now,he's driving a 2004 Nissan Patrol 4x4 A/T.
2. Nissan released the Navara in perfect timing. Lahat ng brand naglabas na,sila na lang wala.
3. Hilux is really a good car,but sobrang dami na not just in the urban area but in the rural area as well.
4. I'm a big fan of American trucks like F150 and the explorer, but i'm afraid of the fuel consumption---Navara looks like one,the built and the stance.
5. I love the feel of a sedan inside, and a rugged monster outside.
6. and the 174hp and 403nm torque,they're talking about.
I'll try to post some pics to help some prospective buyers out there DECIDE...hehehe:D

January 13th, 2008 12:15 AM #217nabasa ko lang kasi.... f.y.i. toyota na po ang largest automaker....
reliability of the navara? i don't want to answer yet kasi kailangan pa ng nissan i-prove na ok talaga yan....
actually, 2005 model pa yan... kaso mukhang nahirapan ang UMC na dalhin agad yan dito... kung may pambili lang ako, i'd get one...
nissan fan here.... i think UMC also needs to bring in the pathfinder with the same engine... ako, i'd pick the pathfinder over the fortuner....
any frontier owners here? fuel consumption po nya?
sana immune ang nissan sa fuel injector probs ng D4-D ng toyota...
