    mga tol,

i have an officemate and they sold their Nissan Frontier which is less than 1 year old (feb or march 2005 yata nabili), nabenta daw this month ng around 900K, brandnew price daw dati eh nasa 950K..

ang mga dating kotse nila: (all were bought brandnew)
    Toyota Rav4 - 1st gen 4x4 (nabenta na)
    Toyota Rav4 - 2nd gen 4x4 (nabenta na)
Honda CRV 2nd gen (nabenta na)
    Hyundai Starex (nabenta na)
Toyota Revo VX200 2004 (nabenta na)
BMW 5 series (nabenta na dahil twice na naghang yung computer daw)
Nissan Frontier 4x4 (eto daw yung mabagal)

Ang mga kotse nila ngayon: (all are bought brandnew)
2004 Nissan Serena (local and NOT from subic)
    2004 Mazda Tribute V6
Nissan Patrol (yung katulad ng kay odell)
Volvo Wagon 4x4, forget the model
    2005 Nissan Xtrail 4x4 250x
    2005 Mitsubishi Grandis

the above list is not a joke.. marami kasi business eh

yung tatay nila kasi eh hindi gaano technical, so the torque rating might be unknown to him and ang conclusion na agad eh mabagal ang diesel na 4x4 at hirap sa arangkada...

so they sold the Frontier and bought a 2005 Hilux 4x2 2.7vvti gas M/T, ayaw na nila ng 4x4 hehe..

ilan ba ang engine types ng Nissan Frontier? their HP and torque rating? and curb, gross weight?

If it's the 4x4 a/t, it could be mabagal sa arankada due to the gearing and additional weight, especially when compared with the newer turbo diesel engines of the Hilux and DMax; and the other cars your friend owns.

But if compared to the older pick-ups like the L200, old Hilux, Fuego n/a, and Mazda B2200/B2500... it should be quite fine.

If it's the m/t version then it performs relatively well.

4WDs was not meant for speed but rather for traversing rugged terrains....i'm not familiar w/ Nissan's 4WD controls but if it has a separate manual/electronic control, on normal city driving 4WD should be OFF, if its activated it will make the vehicle run slower on normal roads & worse will burn the 4wd components....

Mas mabilis siya sa Pajero, pero compared to most of the cars in their fleet mabagal nga ang Frontier. Mabagal pero will keep on going in any terrain.

The model I usually drive is the 2.7. hehehe. Mas mahina pa lalo though mas magaan naman.

Maybe they were not expecting it to be that slow.

Mabagal talaga ang mga trucks natin by first world standards.

But that's something one gets used to.

naninibago lang yan. iba kasi ang andar ng hindi turbo diesel. i do remember fondly, when our DMax was new, hirap din ako pabilisin. kasi nasanay sa mga gas engine na kapag tapak, may response agad. sa diesel hindi ganon, lalo pag may turbo. eventually i overcame the problem- i get to use the Dmax's tremendous torque that it go generate.

though, i rode with my friend's Frontier 2.7 Titanium, medyo mabagal nga kasi 83 hp lang yata. saka i have this feeling na hirap yung makina sa takbuhan, but on the other hand, i'm sure ok ito sa mga payloads.

OT: if you want speed, go get a sports car. trucks aren't built to run, but for utility. personally, i'm not keen with trucks before. but the moment i got my hands on the wheels of my current ride, it wasn't bad at all. could go over where car couldn't go, would conquer even the deepest crater, and could do with cars' amenities too. just sacrifice a little comfort. but it is a very practical choice. with cars, you couldn't leave it covered with dirt, unlike trucks, the dirtier, the more handsome it becomes.

i do wonder, perhaps, they got the wrong impression because of that bouncy ride. unlike the softer suspension of cars for example, you feel one with the road. maybe its just me.
