    How to check TPS (DIY on how I did to my ride)

    Tools needed:
    multimeter (best to use an analog type for testing, and digital for getting the right TPS voltage reading)
    aligator clip
    karayom (sewing needle)
    screwdriver (phillip screwdriver type)

    Step by step:
    1. Set mo muna yong (digital) multimeter to read DC voltage (ma.x of 20V lang).
    2. Paghugot mo nong TPS socket, may makikita kang tatlong wire. Kailangan mo lang itap yong dalawa wires gamit ang karayom(upper two yata yon... paki-correct na lang po). Siguraduhin na hindi magdidikit yong karayom.
    3. Tapos, i-tap mo yong alligator clip sa mga nakatusok na karayom. Sa kabilang dulo ng alligator clip, papunta naman sa (digital) multimeter. Tap yong Positive signal sa gitnang wire (not sure kung kulay black or red yong wire).
    4. Switch on mo na yong oto pero hwag i-start. Take note kung ano yong current reading. Recommended TPS setting is between 0.45 to 0.65V CMIIW.

    5. Para malaman naman kung ok pa ang TPS, palitan ng analog yong multimeter. Pero pwede rin digital. Same setting as the previous one, DC voltage & max of 20V.
    6. Kailangan luwagan yong dalawang screw sa TPS sensor. Yon yong magkabilang dulo.
    7. Hatakin yong TPS sensor papunta sa yo hanggang sa sumagad. Dapat ang reading nyan ay 0.1 something. Ngayon, dahan dahan mo itulak pababa (or papunta sa firewall). Dapat makikita mo yong needle ng multimeter ay dahan dahan din tumaas. Pag napansin mo yong needle na biglang tumalon pataas or pababa, I think defective na yan. Pag nakasagad na, dapat ang reading nyan ay mga 1.+ volts (not really sure).
    8. Para masigurado kung ok naman yong wires papunta sa TPS sensor, tap mo yong negative terminal ng multimeter directly sa battery. Pag malayo ang pagkakaiba (lets say 0.3V ang difference), then try to invest a grounding kit.


    Pag OK naman lahat ng result, good pa ang TPs sensor mo paps. Check mo din yong base idle mo kung nasa spec pa.

    Nice information. Suggest ko lang, avoid using analog multimeter when checking readings on sensors especially resistance. The current flow of analog multimeter is much higher than the digital type. This might affect the current flow to the ECU which might be damaged by prolonged surges. Better use digital multimeter when performing individual sensor tests. For complete engine diagnosis, better use a scan tool and labscope. Don't use the usual Tantiameter, Hula Hula, Kapa Kapa, Trial and Error method of troubleshooting as being practiced by backyard mechanics. More trouble will occur, if not improper diagnosis will be the result of such.
