    tanong ko lang po, ano ba masisira sa engine pag inadvance ang distributor ng efi na hindi nasunod yung proper procedure at nung pinatakbo yung oto ay may takatak sound sa engine? medyo matagal din napatakbo noon nung tumagal ay nawala yung takatak pero binalik uli sa dating posisyon yung distributor, then naulit uli nagalaw at nag takatak sound uli na halos sagad na sa pagka advance, then binalik sa dati. ano po ba masisira? iba na po kasi tunog ng engine ko, sa muffler palang pansin na yung ibang tunog pag binibiritan parang gumagarargar yung output, ala naman butas o damage sa buong exchaust nya. pinalitan ko na rin yung muffler pero ganon din yung tunog. then at high rpm iba rin yung tunog na parang distorted na. nagkaganyan mula nung nagalaw galaw yung timing. may nasira na kaya sa cylinder head o mga valves? pag naka idle ay ok naman yung tunog. ano po opinion nyo? ala kasi ako mapagpakitaan dito na mahusay puro adjust nalang ng adjust ginagawa.

    madami pwede masira.
    bent/broken connecting rod. pag mabali connecting rod tatagos yan sa cylinder and engine block, e tapon mo na makina mo nun.
    cracked pistons. damaged piston pin bore and bushings.
    broken piston rings.
    cracked cylinder head.
    broken main bearing caps and main bearing cap bolts.
    damaged valves and valve seats.

    why inadvance yung distributor? the takatak sound is called engine knock. when this happens you may want to retard the timing until mawala yung takatak. pwede rin masira ang spark plug kapag napabayaan.

    sa opinion ko, ay ibalik ang timing sa recommended setting. best done using a knowledgeable mechanic armed with a timing light or a computer. the method you described is just so you can start the engine and bring it to a good mechanic who can do the correct adjustment using good equipment.
    btw, some cars are sensitive to the type of fuel it uses. for example, my sentra likes brand "C". i tried other brand, but it resulted in engine detonation, especially when going up bridges. going back to "C", the detonation disappeared..
