hi po, would like to ask advise po sa may techy guys on the board. my cousin kasi owns a 97 nissan cefiro and i am looking iinto it. the problem kasi ay namamatayan ng makina while in motion. may times na pagkalabas pa lang ng garahe bumaba idling at namamatayan. while crusing din basta nagfluctuate ang rpm, may times na bumaba tapos taas din. at may times na hindi tumataas at namamatayan na. its been on the garage for months now dahil hindi na nailalayo. lately pinakita sa akin at biglang namatayan ng makina, nawalan ako ng power steering at tumigas ang brakes. muntik na ako mashoot sa kanal.... sa diagnosis ko nasa devices controlling air mixture. nilinis ko na ng contact cleaner yun mass airflow sensor na nasa dulo ng air filter box. pati yun sensor sa other side ng throttle control with two connectors(ano ba tawag doon?) next to it is the idle air control valve tama po ba? eto nalang po hindi ko nagalaw. after cleaning both the mass air flow sensor and yun nasa other side ng throttle control with contact cleaner, walang pagbabago. maslalo pang naging grabe dahil pag-apak ko ng accelerator to 3000-up rpm, taas baba ang revving ng makina. ano kaya problema dito dahil hindi naman nailaw ang check engine light? sana you can help me out and my cousin. thanks....

mahirap mag guessing game jan pre. mapapagastos ka lang.
i suggest you drive over to the nearest nissan casa na lang so they can hook it up to the computer and see what's causing the problem. eto na pinakasimpleng solution jan. malay mo software glitch lang, pag nireprogram biglang mag ok.
some things to check:
1. fuel... the cefiro needs 95 octane or better. masisira ung knock sensor ng makina pag pinilit mo na unleaded ang ilagay. pupugak pugak talaga yun.
2. vacuum lines, baka may nahugot.
3. get a timing light, baka off ang timing
4. ignition coils, baka sira ung isa or dalawa kaya hindi lahat gumagagana pistons mo wala kasing kuryente to the spark plugs. i think 1 piston off medyo panget na takbo. pag 2 pistons off stalled na makina.

they always fill 95 octane naman and is not pinging. pino nga andar ng makina. although napansin ko lang dahil i opened the fuel refill cap, there is pressure buildup, parang hangin na sumingaw. i think hindi rin off ang timing dahil at idle or loaded pino talaga ang makina. wala din problema sa ignition coil dahil mararamdaman mong nanginginig kung one or more coils are not working.
when it first happened nadala na sa nissan dealership, they quoted him P27k. so he pulled it out hoping that he can find a second opinion with a lesser pocket damage. the car is in batangas so malayo sa mga kalikot boys ng banawe at evangelista.

[SIZE=3]Based on my research, kapag ganitong stalling problem (with fluctuating idle), nasa air-fuel mixture ang problema, so iyung mga devices that affect it ang titingnan. Some of these are:

[SIZE=3]1)faulty Fuel Pump/Relay[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]2)dirty or clogged Fuel Filter
[/SIZE]
3) dirty or clogged Air Filter

[SIZE=3]4)dirty or faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor [/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]5)dirty Idle Air Control Valve[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3][/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Another possible problem ay ang coolant sensor at ang temperature sensor. [/SIZE] If the coolant sensor is bad and tells the computer the engine is colder or warmer than it really is, that can screw up the fuel mixture, too. If the coolant sensor reads colder than normal, or cold all the time, the engine will run rich[SIZE=3]. Ganun din daw sa temperature sensor, kelangan ng computer ang accurate temperature to effectively control the amount of air-fuel that it will give the engine.[/SIZE]

Iyong idle Air control Valve sabi mo hindi mo pa napalinis at Iyong Throttle body humanap ka ng maayos at marunong maglinis nito . Pag nalinis na lahat ito mapupuna mo tataas idling nito bago i aadjust ang correct timing nito at idling.

possibly hindi rin sa coolant sensor dahil kakastart palang sa umaga namamatay na. from the least expensive, siguro isusugest ko sa pinsan ko na linisin ang throttle body and idle air control valve. yup possible source din yun fuel filter and fuel pump baka kinakapos na ang supply. kasi may pressure build up pagbukas ng fuel filler cap na dapat e wala....

June 4th, 2010 04:01 PM #250yun ang problema sir sa faulty coolant sensor. di nya madetect correctly kung malamig or mainit na yung makina.pa di nya masense na malamig yung makina, maling signal ang maibabato nya sa fuel regulator/fuel pump,so kakapusin ang supply ng gas from tank to engine.1.2k lang naman yung original engine coolant temperature sensor and it solved both my hard starting and fluctuating rpm on my 97 cefiro.goodluck!
it shouldn't be difficult to design fillers/caps that offer good sealing. so i wonder, is this...
