Yes, it'll be heavier. Period. In parking, in accelerating and over bumps.
But how much heavier depends on the rims. If it's 17's, much heavier. As much as 20 pounds per corner. If it's just 15's, acceptable weight gain... about 5 pounds or so, only, as long as they're ROTAs or some similar sports rims. And if you get the ROTA Auto-X, it might even be just as light as the original wheels.

July 16th, 2008 03:13 PM #3i'm planing to change my 13" steel rims to 15" (rota) alloys. tires will change from 165/80/13 to 195/55/15 (so roughly the same diameter). car is a 1.3 lec sentra. i have power steering.
should there be a significant change (by weight, power, or FC)?
thanks

If your new wheels are lighter, its possible to get marginally better FC/acceleration and ride quality.
If they weigh the same as your old steel rims... well, at least your Sunny now looks better.
Of course, wide tires would simply wipe out any gains.Last edited by ghosthunter; July 16th, 2008 at 04:20 PM.
