i think the Qashqai is meant to compete with the Euro RAV4 which is smaller and also mounts its spare tire underneath unlike the USDM RAV4 we have here which has a rear door mounted spare tire.

European Toyota RAV4

vs.

European Nissan Qashqai

now, since we are getting the USDM RAV4 which is larger, if Nissan would go neck to neck with Toyota...there's a chance that we'll be getting the Rogue instead of the Qashqai.
but there are also speculations that the next Xtrail will be more likely follow the footsteps of the local RAV4 will grow bigger and also even offer V6 in some markets. could be that one also. who knows?
