Armada is released for US market only. Since Nissan doesn't have any vehicle to counter with large SUV category.
It is a completely different vehicle compared to Patrols. Independent suspension systems (front/rear), longer chassis and etc. While the Patrols were reliable with solid diffs on coil springs.

Armada is based on the Titan platform, and as ungas said, is designed for the NA market. hence, no provisions for diesel engines, biased for on-road driving, and designed for maximum space and dimensions.
on the other hand, the Patrol is first and foremost a purpose-built off-roader designed for, say, the unpaved third world, much like the Land Cruiser series before the LC100.

A gas guzzling TB48E: 180kW(245PS)*4,800rpm; 400Nm(40.8kgm)*3,600rpm!
New bigger tail lights and rear bumper design. Bigger fenders to accomodate larger tires. As most of Jap designers commonly do to cosmetic changes, they modified the grille, headlights and front bumpers too. Jap units still have the rear diff locker as standard. Guess what, these babies will still come with solid front differentials!
You'll need an interpreter to be able to understand all the new features.

This facelifted GU Patrol (GU V?) still soldiers on with the chassis that was introduced in 1998; hence, it still carries a live front axle and part-time four-wheel drive

mukhang 4.8L i-6 pa rin yung top gas engine, not the 5.6 V8 in the armada/titan.
as for the ZD30, they've upped the power and torque to 160 hp and 280 lb-ft (from 155 hp and 261 lb-ft). there are rumors of a coming 4.5L turbodiesel though (ZD45?)
plenty of pics of the 2005 patrol here:
