The 4.5 will out-accelerate the 3.0...sa 0-100 kph and sa quarter mile.

The 4.5 will also gulp down fuel at a much more alarming rate than the ZD30 hehe

the 4.5 consumes about as much fuel per km as the prev model of the exped w/o the same power. unless you really want the small diffrence in power and a patrol, stick with the diesel or get another car.

July 1st, 2004 10:57 PM #35thinking about getting a 2nd patrol. What's the difference between the different year models, 2001 (dito yata nag start ang current design o meron bang 2000 model) up to 2003? Pictures plus explanation will be appreciated. thanks..

the GU Patrol was introduced in 1998, but locally, 2001 was the first year it was made available.
ZD30 engines produced in 2000 and early 2001 have a defective design and are known to fail prematurely. if you're getting a 2001 model, check to make sure that you're getting a redesigned engine (this has an oil capacity of 8.3 L as opposed to 5.7 L for the faulty design)
puro cosmetic lang yung differences nung 2001 and 2003, different headlights and taillights, grill, and bumper plus a few other things. mechanically and features-wise, there's no difference.

actually, 2000 unang lumabas dito ang GU Patrol. and afaik, all local patrols with ZD30 engines have an oil capacity of 8.1 liters, so no need to worry about that when purchasing local patrols.
ang problemahin mo nalang is yung fuel quality natinSignature

July 1st, 2004 11:38 PM #39fuel quality? Di ba direct injection ito, not common rail kgaya ng trooper, that's why yung trooper daming problema dahil sa local diesel natin? any difference sa manual and auto tyranny? May nagsabi sa akin mahina o underpowered ang auto, better ang manual. Meron din nagsabi nakakapagod ang manual, especially a car this size.
Considering the aesthetic differences between year models, any tips when confirming the models, kasi po minsan yung nagbebenta, 02 daw pero 01 pala, for example. May experience pa nga ako sa buy and sell na 99 hilander daw pero 97 pala, garapal na talaga, 2 years ang panloloko.Last edited by altec; July 1st, 2004 at 11:42 PM.

i have driven both matic and manual patrol, ang masasabi ko is mas ok ang matic, mas malakas sa first gear compared sa manual.
the injection pump of patrol is very sensitive to fuel quality, and according to Doc Diesel of Betan Calibration, its one of the most sophisticated injection pumps. i think the brand was Bosch.Signature
I think they took over Sept 2023... I remember their event presented the 296 GTB and the Purosangue...
