Just took my 4 month old Strada GLS for it's first long drive to Baguio, and all I can say is that i'm all hands down to the STRADA . First of all, while on the NLEX, this VOLVO tried to outrun the Strada but did the STRADA give up? NO it matched the speed of the Volvo, and mind you this was at 180 Km/h !! (pls don't try this at home ) and dare you ask if this was the limit? NO! if my sanity hadn't kicked in the STRADA was still willing to give more power! And the steering when at this speed, it was still perfectly stable, because when i let go of the steering wheel it did not budge a bit. Also with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, I was always competent of both my tire pressure and tire temperature at this mentioned speed.
To make the long story short we reached baguio in 5 hours, which already includes 1 and half hours of rest stops.

And do you think that's the end of the story? Of course not, after the on road adventure traveling to Baguio we did a little off roading! If you guys frequent Baguio a lot you would notice this 2 big "Radar" dishes in one of the peaks of the mountain ranges. This place is called Sto. Tomas and it is the highest peak in Baguio and the roads there are the perfect test for the off road prowess of the STRADA. Going up the steep slopes and off road condition was a breeze for the STRADA. How easy was it you ask?? I DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO USE THE 4X4, I went up that off road mountain on 2 H!
ALL in ALL I was satisfied, if not very impressed with this ALL new STRADA and I'm a believer that the STRADA truly deserves the COTY award for the best new PICK-UP!

first time poster po ako dito sa forum... i'm really interested in the new strada kaso lng may narinig ako problems regarding sa quality control ng mitsubishi. sabi nila surplus daw ang mga new engines though dinideclare nila(mitsubishi) na brand new ito... totoo po ba ito? affected ba dito ang strada? pansin ko din kasi prang pang right-hand drive ang loob ng strada like the shifter, cup-holder, at ang handbrake nito mas malapit sa passenger side(converted kung baga). may nagkaproblema na din ba sa ride na ito? any confirmation of this will be really helpful. thanks!!!

I've logged around 16k kms including a 15 hr drive to samar recently. So far, still no problems. Whole unit still solid. Wala pang kalampag. Nagamit na din sa off-roading. I'm one happy owner.

You're right about the transfer case shifter and the handbrake being more biased to the passenger side, most likely due to cost cutting, but I can live with it. You don't use those very often anyway.

I'm pretty sure the engine is not surplus. It's DOHC, 16 valve, common rail, and turbocharged. It's a hundred times better than the old 4D56. I should know. I used to own an Adventure and an L300.

drave, what do you mean by the transfer case shifter being more biased to the passenger side? is the transfer case shifter the button on the automatic transmission that you press to change gear? sorry not that familiar with the terms.. tnx

Transfer case shifter is the lever that changes 2H-4H-4L for slippery and off-road conditions.

Between hi-lux and strada, the better value for money would be the strada. It has a powerful yet economical 2.5L engine, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, smaller turning radius, comfortable car-like ride, roomy rear cabin, retractable rear window, ipod ready stereo, free turbo timer and remote starter, free bedliner, free stepboard, all for 1.25M for A/T.

thanks bro.. i was wondering if how many colors are available? do they come in black? i saw one here in mitsubishi showroom pero sabi ng sales agent one unit lang daw ang black, parang testing lang nila yung black na color... so sa automatic transmission the shift lever is on the left side? akala ko pareho ang shift lever nya sa surplus na nandun sa right side..
