Let me see if i can answer this for you. i've been driving an automatic car since 16..so here goes.

when the instrument panel indicator turns on, it means your OD is off. why is it on when it's off, because normally, your OD should always be on. OD gives you four gears..when OD is off, it gives you only three gears. Of course that changes depending on what type of transmission you have..be it 4 speed or 5 speed automatic. Most cars are four speed automatic.

    2. When OD is on, you will have better fuel economy because you will use all four gears..instead of OD off (three gears).

    3. You can always turn your OD off even if your driving slow or fast, people usually turn off their OD if they are speeding up or passing another car...but for me, i don't advise it because, when you need more power, just simply pressing on the gas pedal would automatically downshift to the lower gear to give you more rpm thus giving you more horsepower to allow you to speed up and pass other cars.

    4. some automatic cars not only have OD, but they have power and normal mode for the automatic transmission. this is different from OD. but basically having the Power mode on the transmission allows shifting of gears at higher rpm thus able to accelerate faster from 0.

    5. Others would also turn off their OD when climbing like going to baguio..because the transmission doesnt keep going back and forth from 4th gear to 3rd gear and back..in short..gear hunting.

I hope i have explained it well.you can also search tsikot as they have that discussion before.

    drive inspired sir.

please help po...naguguluhan na talaga kasi ako..i bot my Strada Sport A/T July last year..900+KMs palang ang takbo ko..City driving lang kasi..and Zamboanga City is a small city lang..just last sunday lang i had the chance to long drive my Strada in a big empty highway..this is my 1st time talaga in my whole life to drive/own a A/T vehicle..yun last sunday palang i had the chance to explore/know more about my Strada..now to my problem..ive read the manuals..ive even read wikepedia..ive asked mga mechanics sa Mitsubishi here sa Zamboanga..iv asked friends who owns A/T vehicles..but no one can give me a single clear answer..coz iba iba brand/model vehicles nila..i hope someone can help me para maunderstand ko na once and for all..ano ba talaga ang Overdirve?i have the following question regarding it on our Stradas...

1.yun "OD OFF" pag naka lights on sa dashboards ng Strada natin means "OFF" or "ON" ba?some says its OFF kasi may nakasulat OD OFF...some says it ON coz lights on..naguguluhan na ako...

2.When do u suggest turning the Overdirve "ON"..when do u suggest turning it "OFF"..ive read sa Wikepedia its suggested to turn it ON when were averaging 60 sa speed..

3.Can u turn the Overdrive "ON"or "OFF" on the fly/while the vehicle is running...or do we have to make a complete stop first before switching the OverDrive "ON/OFF" ?

i know im not enjoying my Strada to the best of its ability..Please Help po!!!Thanks talaga in advance!!!

You can also read about the Overdrive Control Switch in your Owner's Manual, pp. 4-42 and 4-43.

I'm not yet offshore. Maybe not this trip. We're just here in Tokyo stuck in the hotel. I'll be here until April 28. We did some projects in Okinawa last year. More expensive than Tokyo because of the US base. Okinawa is the Hawaii of Japan. See you in May and maybe ride our Strada's to your farm.

Welcome to the Strada thread, Mr. Adik .

If you don't need 4WD then get the GLX and then modify it to look like a GLS . Sa colors ang alam ko po na available is silver, titanium grey, white, black, red, and blue.

We can help you decide sir, but you have to make up your mind first. Ano ba talaga hanap mo, kotse ba o pick-up truck? Sa previous posts mo, kino-consider mo din ang passenger van (adventure), honda city at toyota vios.

You have to narrow down your choices to similar vehicles. Ano ba ang magiging gamit mo sa sasakyan?

But off-hand, I will give an unbiased recommendation... get the strada glx... panalo, hehehe
    Di ba sir TP?

    tama si doc ooba99...

honda civic din ang gusto ko dati... then i saw the price of the strada glx... pero im a bit hesitant at first kasi pick-up nga so i went sa casa for a test drive... and viola! nainlove na ako sa strada... it performs like a car with a very big trunk space at the back hehe. and kayang kaya ang baha and matibay ang ilalim compared sa sedan.

in fine, i concur with doc ooba99's unbiased recommendation hehe

Same here..I considered an FD civic along with the strada. Strada pa rin. Nevertheless I am currently driving a FD here abroad, looks and power is okay, pero I hate the body. Sabi ng ka-office mate ko, parang lata ng sardines, madali mayupi.

yeh.i think i have change my mind, and i might get the strada

that was right i was thinkin to get either the vios or the adventure but then my dad made me realise vios, look out there how many vios taxis you can see and for the adventure well its a decent choice though but im a single guy advie is probably for a family car i would say.Plus i had my budget really stretched so why not a better one than those two?

tnx for that website/forum about the mods of the strada, its fantastic

i jst wondered if its underpowered if you put 265/70/16 on a 2.5liter engine?
oh and i might phone the mitsubishi near in our place and ask what color they have right now coz im out of the country
might get it in the next couple of weeks?
    i hope its worth it

Underpowered? That word is not in the dictionary of strada terms, hehehe. With the 2.5L strada, you will get all the power that you'll ever need.

If, however, you are the power-tripping guy, you can always put an ECU upgrade to add more horses to your engine. But, as it is, I do not think you will complain.

I suggest that you also request for a test drive.
