Maybe your SA was not informed about the immobilizer on the 4X4 GLS.. The updated brochure of MMPC states that 4X4 GLS & GLS SE are equipped with an immobilzer.. Confirmed by "Frontier" & " TC237 "
Maybe the alarm remote with 4 & 6 buttons depends on the dealer

Backread a few pages ago, that the original key is the one with the chrome Mitsubishi logo while the supposed duplicate is the plain non-chromed Mitsubishi logo.

The thin metal piece has numbers on it which helps Mitsubishi pinpoint your unit's ignition key record for future key duplication purposes. Show this to your dealer whenever you need to make more duplicate keys. Don't lose this piece.

sir darwin i think the one with chrome or stainless logo is the main key and the other one is spare and the steel tag i think like code for the key as i mentioned before you can make duplicate key and test it coz mine i test it before with duplicate key it will crank only the engine but will not start and also it can open the door but it will trigger the alarm, i have duplicate cause sometimes i forget my key inside the car, mine has auto lock activated,,,cheers bro lapit na bakasyon he he

guys if Im not mistaken the immbolizer code is in the alarm switch and not inside of the key, I tried it once in our strada gls sport, i remove the switch alarm and start the pick up and suddenly it doesnt start and it alarms. So the immobilizer is the switch alarm not in inside the key, Correct me if im wrong

the switch alarm im referring is the one together with the key.

Yes I have tried using the dulicate key and it started the engine and run the car. I recall asking my SA re. the Immobilizer and she told me that the Montero sport is not equiped with the said immobilizer.

Sir just a correction on my previous post. the duplicate key started the engine but haven't tried running the car.
