July 21st, 2009 02:54 PM #4703sir i noticed this too on my reservoir. it was at half full. i just added radiator coolant thats pre-mixed already and ready to pour. if im not mistaken the brand is prestone. they're known for brake fluids but they do radiator coolants as well. bought it at ace hardware. since you'll be on a trip, i suggest you do the same to be sure. happy motoring!

July 21st, 2009 03:55 PM #4705Hello guys,
I finally gave the downpayment for my new monty and it will be released this Friday according to my SA. Real excited about it... I got the 4X2 Sedona Red model... I was really eyeing the black one but none were available and I didn't want to risk the price increase...
I was backreading this thread and I saw that the honeycomb grill costs around P6K from Winterpine... I asked the parts dealer at the dealership and was quoted P8.6K! Quite a difference!
There were quite a few accessories already including spoilers which cost around P13K if I remember correctly...
I might just cruise around the aftermarket shops to see if I can get better deals... The profit margin of the dealership is quite substantial, even my SA advised me against getting from them...That's what I call a good SA....
Well I just wanted to share some info and I hope I can become a member of the soon to be formed Montero Sport Club...
Thanks!

July 21st, 2009 04:23 PM #4707i'd recommend it if you're the type who wants to maintain the luster of your new car paint but doesnt have the time and effort to polish and wax. where it usually requires about 2 weeks gap between waxes, the sealant they apply is good for 3 months. thats why you go back every quarter for reapplications.
i had mine 3 days after i got my monty from the dealership. ive had my 2nd application already. so far, very satisfied! with a keen eye, you can see the difference in luster between one with and one without the sealant.
hope this helps sir!

you might want to consider the diamond gloss from ziebart, though it is costly on the first application but very much worth it. it's about 9.5K for the initial and 50% off after a year and thereafter. It comes with warranty for your paint.
They have a cheaper one which is probably the equivalent of the Big bert's optiguard. They call it paint protection and i think it is more or less 6K for the initial application; 50% year after year re-application.
Personally, i have been using diamond gloss since 1995 (way back my first car) and have been very happy with the way diamond gloss protects the paint and maintain the wet look condition even without waxing for a year (which, waxing, is really not necessary).

i had no chance yet to check if there is a notation on the engine hood regarding the coolant as this is my first mitsu car. however, for my other toyota cars, there is a big warning there that never open that coolant reservoir not until 100,000 KM is reached (not sure if really 100,000 KM).
I supposed mitsu should have that warning sign there as well. No need to add coolant as the radiator system should be completely sealed. If it is sealed, coolant level should remain at that level.
It is a big NO to open the system, as far as i could remember. For those who has Toyota cars, you can check it yourself. Later today, i will check the montero hood if there is a notification like that as well.
