August 12th, 2009 12:24 AM #4301Gentlemen,
Good day to all. I'm just new here at tsikot forums and a newbie Pajero owner. Just wanna ask some friendly and professional advice for my 5-dr 2.8 Pajero Exceed (purchased July 2009 in Subic). I know some folks don't like Japan imports, but that's what my budget permits. I want to maintain my first car, without burning much my budget.
Here is the present situtation:
-Engine and auto trans are good, very good acceleration and shifting, 4wd is engaging smoothly
-16 inch mags and spare tire, with 75% tires
-Good body and paint, including interiors, all working gauges
-Some steering parts (the part connecting the tire rod and gear box) are from bnew Isuzu trooper parts (compatible according to the mechanic), no leaks and rattle in the steering mechanism (walang kabig). May konting kalampag sa harap, pero baka rubber bushings lang, and some adjustment sa parts.
- Tried 150kph on SCTEX...so far oks naman.
My questions:
- What brand of engine oil is best (performance and price) should I use? For every what kilometer should I change my engine oil?
- What should be the right tire pressure for front and rear tires?
- When do I use the S/M/H settings in my suspension?
- When do I use the OD/L/2 in the auto transmission (sanay kasi ako sa manual e)?
- Will it be advisable to change the timing chain since the odo reading is at 90K km? or should I change it at 100K? How much will this cost?
- How do I maintain my turbo and diesel injection (hindi ko babaklasin, but on proper usage)?
- Plus other basic maintenance inputs...
Pasensya na po sa moderators kung nasagot na itong tanong na ito in other threads. Ala na kasi time to sort out 100+ replies e, been very busy at work.
Your suggestions and advices are very much welcomed. Thanks.

utoy, welcome to tsikot
imho
- choose the highest rating you can afford, synthetic or mineral. I guess CF minimum to as high as CI rating. every 5k kms replace
- 34 front 36 rear
- depends sayo kung san ka comfortable,
- just keep it in D and always overdive on for fuel economy,
- passbaka at 200k kms ko na palitan or kung may mafeel ako na kakaiba.
- dont shut down your engine after driving hard lalo na pag sa nasa expressway. allow 2 minutes to cool down your turbo.
- change oil and oil filter every 5k, air filter every 10k kms, fuel filter and ATF every 20k kms, all fluids ( coolant, brake , power steering, differentials and transfer case) and grease nipples every 40k, all belts every 50k kms.Last edited by promdiboy; August 12th, 2009 at 06:35 AM.

- i used full synthetic oil, royal purple pa nga gamit ko. viscosity is 15w-40. change oil ganito... pag mineral, every 5k at pag full synthetic, 10k

hehe sir aldriech.. utak ko... fieldmaster ralliart din eh.. since last kanvas ko 19500 lang bnew... hehe it is easy to clean.. dahil 6 spokes lang.. it is lighter.. better fuel consumption and braking.. kayalang alam ko di ako matatahimik pag di ko nabili spiderweb design.. hehe.. ipon ipon nalang siguro muna... baka madoble gastos eh.. pag bumili ako ralliart fm... tapos... nabitin.. ipon uli for spider:D hehe so far cheapest canvas ko is 31t na sa spider..
sir testi.. nagtanong po ako falken landair.. a/t kayalang 15" hehe
6500 10.5x15
sa bridgestone mas mahal.. 10.5x15 is 7500...
-personally i use only mineral oil but change 5tkms or below.. specially kung sa heavy traffic palagi yung dinadaanan ng sasakyan mo..
i use to work kasi sa casa.. as a service advisor.. we had bad experiences from some synthetic oil.. before.. we use to suggest 15tkms before replacement ng synthetic oil.. then dumating mga problema... a few compact sedan nagputik ang oil sa loob... lumapot but umaandar pa.. pag changeoil tsaka mapapansin na ang problema dahil lalakas ang usok ng sasakyan... so we changed 15tkms to 10tkms... then meron parin 2 or 3 yata na compact sedan nagkaproblema.. so naging 5tkms nalang strictly kahit synthetic..
-32psi front and rear.. tinaasan ko.. para mas matipid sa fuel.. hehe less resistance but syempre less grip din mangyayari...
-suspension... pag ako nagdrdrive sineset ko sa H dahil gusto ko feel na feel sa corners... feeling F1 eh.. hehe dad ko.. lagi siya nasa S... gusto niya soft ride.. maganda yata yung S sa straights and yung H pag lumiliko... sana gawan nila ng computer diyan...para pag on highways naka S... tapos pag nadetect ng computer na... lumiliko ka... at certain speed/angle.. mag sstuffen yung suspension.. hehe... ganda siguro yun.. soft on straights hard on corners..
-ako din.. D lang palagi... overdrive on.. para save fuel... dati.. sa old matic car ko.. pag gusto ko mag stay sa 1st gear at hi revs i use "1" and "L" naman pag umabot na sa redline ng 1... but sa pajero.. since.. 2 wheel drive lang matic namin.. never naman ako nag climb ng kung ano ano or nakipag hatawan so.. "D" din lang talaga..
-wag po kayo magagalit but.. hindi dahil 90t nakasulat diyan sa car.. is 90t talaga yan.. i had once a customer sa certain casa... he got a used compact suv.. bagong bili at 65t kms yata... but.. nuing chineck ko records.. lumabas sa computer it already had its 85tkms change oil 2 years ago.. so mahirap talaga magtiwala sa ganyan..
timingchain.. from what i heard.. hindi naman kelangan palitan pag hindi pa nagiingay... if hindi pa napapacalibrate yan.. you may want have have it calibrated.. check for worn belts.. yung minsan may maliliit na cracks.... get mitsuboshi brand belts.. oem ng mitsubishi.. hehe
-i agree po... wag agad turn engine off.. specially if kakahataw mo lang..
-madali naman imaintain pajero... madali parts and... hindi naman sirain.. so far naging problema ko lang noon is... hard starting... which was solved by a good set of glowplugs.. unang set ko kasi bulok yata nabili ko.. 2months lang yata tumagal.. hehe
