Don't be suprised if there is a shortage of MS and Triton models...

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia: delivery of Triton and Pajero Sport affected by Thai flood situation

Another Japanese car company affected by the floods in Thailand – this time it’s Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, who have just announced that it will be temporarily halting the delivery of the Pajero Sport and Triton due to a disruption in parts supply to Mitsubishi’s Thai plant.

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s plant in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estates has suspended production of the Pajero Sport and the Triton due to difficulties in procuring the required parts for production.

Mitsubishi, which makes the Pajero Sport sport-utility vehicle and Lancer in Thailand, has shut its factories in the country since Oct. 13 and hasn’t decided when to resume output.
Production in Japan may be suspended for several days depending on shipments of integrated circuit chips and parts from the Southeast Asian nation, President Osamu Masuko said.

Customers who have made bookings for the Pajero Sport and Triton may anticipate delays in the delivery of their vehicles, but MMM says selected Triton variants have adequate existing stock to fulfill market demand. Japanese CBU units such as the ASX, Lancer GT, Lancer Sportback, Grandis and Pajero are not affected.

“We apologise for the delay on vehicle deliveries, especially the Triton and Pajero Sport. Our commitment to our customers remains our top priority and we are monitoring closely on the situation in Thailand,” said Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia CEO Tetsuya Oda. Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has also taken the decision to donate RM20 for every car registered from November 2011 to December 2011 to help those who have suffered as a result of the flood situation and to contribute to the rebuilding of affected areas.

Floods to force all Japan carmakers in Thailand to stop production - The Mainichi Daily News

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp. will suspend automobile production in Thailand from Thursday due to flooding, company officials said Wednesday, making it likely that all eight Japanese automakers operating in the country will shut down their local plants Thursday.

Seven other Japanese carmakers in Thailand have already suspended manufacturing operations as many of their parts suppliers have been damaged by the flooding. Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. saw its local contract manufacturer halt production Wednesday morning.

Mitsubishi Motors had continued production of some vehicles for which it was able to secure parts, but ran out of the parts as of Wednesday, its officials said.

Mazda Motor Corp., which partially resumed production last Thursday after suspension from Oct. 11, discontinued manufacturing Wednesday again as it also ran out of parts in stock.

Nissan Motor Co. has extended its production suspension to Oct. 28, while Toyota Motor Corp. will suspend auto production until Saturday.

Honda Motor Co.'s plant for manufacturing four-wheel vehicles has been flooded, making it impossible for workers to enter the facility. Even if the water recedes, it is expected to take about a month before the plant's operation can be resumed, according to company officials.

Isuzu Motors Ltd. and Hino Motors Ltd. have also suspended car production in Thailand.

Although the Japanese automakers are striving to find alternative parts suppliers, the flood damage is expected to continue affecting them, analysts said.
