My family is happy with the Grandis. Except for some minor irritants caused by the dealer, Diamond Motors, when we got it late last year, the performance of the car is excellent so far.

The Grandis is a really stylish minivan/MPV. No doubt that this is one Mitsu's best and I agree (better than the kidney-grille Galant 240 M).

Stylish both inside & out and has quite a number of features too at just 1.4 M.

Problem is, even at that price, the more expensive Previa (at around 1.7 M) still beats it. Aside from that, there are even more Previa units on the road compared to the number of Grandis units that I see (perhaps the latter being a fairly newcomer in RP).

Still, it appears as if people are willing to shell out more for the Toyota even if they price it way higher than that of the competitors. (probably due to brand image, resell value, etc.)

So far ok naman performance. 16k km, except for the stolen rear wiper its holding up pretty well. Mivec engine is great and getting around 6km/l++ sa city on Petron XCS. Was able to do 160kph easily on the Star highway and 10.5km/l to boot.

I like the fact na konti lang ang Grandis compared to the ubiquitous Previa. Check out the latest C! magazine and know why they like the Grandis over the Previa.

I particularly like the clear tail lights especially on a black grandis. I'd pick this over the previa if i were to buy. I'm trying to convince an uncle to buy one =)

OK din yung Grandis ng mom ko. Borrowed it one time for a trip with a few friends to Tagaytay. Very smooth ang takbo. I like the MIVEC engine. Very responsive when overtaking. Sa loob naman very stylish ang interior.

Problem lang is mejo masikip talaga sya.

Bought my Grandis last May and my family love it. It has fulfilled our expectations and needs. I have 3 kids and travel with a yaya and a driver once or twice a week and we all fit comfortably when using all 3 rows with boot space for a stroller. Have gone out of town with 6 adults and 2 kids plus bags and all passengers were happy with the ride and space. I take the car to work everyday through traffic and i have been very happy as it handles well and the built in touch screen head unit is ipod ready plus plays dvds and videos through an sd card. Going through a 3 hour trip through manila traffic was less stressful as i was entertained watching a video.

If you are looking for a ride that has the flexibility of carrying 7 people that is fun to drive yourself, I'd recommend the grandis. It maybe an old model but the features are still above class and reasonable considering they sell it at 1.25m. Leather seats, HID headlights, abs, etc. Only downside is fuel consumption at 6.5 kms per liter in the city and 8 for long drives. But if that is not an issue to you, go for it.

got my Grandis last year but bought it 2nd hand (05 model)

    1. It outdrives and out handles my trooper and Fortuner, easily (which were my other choices)
    2. Space, very plenty because its actually very wide inside. ... actually I dont get it when people say a Previa is larger.... My Brother's 05 Previa (local) has limited seating capacity
    3. Seats are designed for large people, very comfortable (all 7)... people who say tight third row, 2nd row just needs to share some leg room... same as any Van
    4. Rides like a mid size car, refinement of a mid size car
    5. So far, so good ako sa service (mitsubishi Makati)
    6. Easier to drive than a mid size SUV

    CONS:
    1. it is still a VAN... a bit awkward when driven alone
    2. Gas is the same as any 2.4Liter car + Van configuration... its the same as 1st gen CRV, Ford focus (also had experience with these 2 cars)... more economical than a 2000 Model Hiace GL (Gas 2.0L)
    3. Bad Resale

--- Its my choice when I travel to Baguio or Nueva ecija with Family... Trooper/Fortuner is a bit too truck for me in long drives.

Just my 2 cents.... Really worth the car!

I would really recommend the Grandis as a second car specially as a family car. We got ours last 2008. Until now we enjoy it. It really feels upscale compared to a regular AUV or even Fortuner (We also have a 3.0D). Ride is very smooth. Sometimes I drive it at 180kph at the SCTEX yet the kids are still very asleep. Price is less than your typical mid-size sedan yet it is loaded with features of a mid-size sedan. The only downside is the fuel consumption. Around 6.5km/L only.

I bought a Grandis last May 2007. I actually bought it for my wife to drive and as a replacement for our Kia Carnival. Pros are similar to what cta2 posted. It drives like a car, has a small turning radius and is very maneuverable. The 3rd row space is ok and the Grandis zips along the highway. My wife enjoys driving it and I like driving it too. I have driven it to Isabela, Pagudpud, and to Baguio a few times. The Grandis is easier to park and drive than the Carnival. It uses gasoline so it doesn't stink or belch and is quieter than a diesel engine. Before buying the Grandis, I evaluated a Fortuner, Innova and Starex. The Fortuner is definitely not a family van and the Starex is huge and drives like a truck. I almost purchased an Innova with its value for money and good features but I found the Grandis a better ride, more sporty looking and looked better. The rear seats are very easy to reconfigure for a bigger trunk space.
I like the speed of the 2.4 Liter Mivec engine with the Triptronic transmission feature(very handy for overtaking).

Cons: because it has a sporty profile, the ground clearance is lower than usual. It is also more expensive than the Innova. Generally more expensive vehicles means higher insurance premiums and bigger depreciation cost.
    I hope this helps.

Hello. Have any of you tried to change the air filter of your Grandis (assuming you can source one)? I have not been to the casa because they charge so much for maintenance but instead have the oil changed at a gasoline station. I can source the oil filters from El Dorado or Motorix but they do not have the air filter. El Dorado in Manila has it and sells for about PHP 1700 but its too far. Yesterday, the mechanic cleaned the air filter but found it so difficult to take it out. I had to help him take out the battery and the entire air filter housing before we could remove the filter. Medyo matrabaho kasi, baka may mas madaling paraan. Perhaps some of you can share your experience. I have a 2007 Grandis. Thanks.

Just reviving this thread and just bought a Gemstone Gray Grandis last week and I've already racked up 270 kms. Was looking for a family car and was first looking at some SUV's, but didn't like the ride and comfort of these diesel suv's. When we test drove the Grandis, we impressed. Very luxurios, spacious, easy to drive and the ride is very smooth.

Masakit lang unang full tank at almost 3.2k, but you have to live with high fuel costs anyways. So far no complaints and the family is enjoying the car.

Are there any things that I should look out for?

Been enjoying the Grandis since Feb 2009. We bought ours second hand. But have to be really conscious about the gas consumption because of the price today. But other than that, MY FAMILY IS VERY HAPPY WITH IT.

I hear that the belt is a bit of a hassle though I haven't exprienced having it changed. Hard to buy the pads for the rear.

Any advice there on the brakes? I have changed it once since 2009 but the squeeking sound stays. Is it the pads or is it the rotor disc? Replaced that too but still squeeking.

Any owner out there with the same experience>?

I have only 1.5k kms so no experience with your problem. Suggest either have your rotors resurfaced or have your pads sanded and maybe the new pads are a bit uneven

still have my Grandis and still Happy with it.... 75,000Km... so far so good, all casa serviced so I can not comment on outside prices.

My not so regular service but part of wear and tear:

    1. Front Rotors replaced at 60,000Km for roughly 12K... I just figured its a mitsubishi thing (I have several experience with mitsubishi) back to normal again after replacement and still good up to now

    2. Strong Vibrations when in Drive but Full Stop, specially when aircon is on... they just cleaned something (I forgot) 1K payment only... Also use 95 Octane... its in the manual... Vibrations also occur when you use lower octane fuel

    3. Changed my timing belt at 65,000Km... paid less than 20K

    4. Im due for Transmission Support (next service) I heard its about 3K

No other surprises... but I feel these issues are part of wear and tear.

Also, some parts of Grandis are for indent order, they say that our parts are from Japan, I thought it was made in Thailand... but the sourcing of parts are still in Japan. This was true for my rotors... 2 weeks lang naman and they inform me BEFORE anything happened. Preventive nga... better service compared to other Brands I have experience

    Just my 2 cents....
