September 22nd, 2008 12:49 AM #522Nope. The two local variants are gas 4G64. The sales reps I talked to have no idea what the plan is for next year. They didn't even know that there's a new upgraded/facelifted Zinger (Fuzion).
The 5 Taiwan variants are all gas powered with 4G64 for the low-end variant with M/T and 4G69 MIVEC for the four other variants with A/T.
CMC's China's web site also list the same, all gas models. Same goes for the South American release of the Zinger.

Diesel for the fuzion is still (i think) in the works.
but as far as the Zinger is concerned, its my first time also to know that a M/T now exists but i still have to see how the shifter will look like considering how narrow the console box is.
true enough, d4nt is correct. the 4G64 is something that i heard of dating back 1986... when it was first used in the Mitsubishi Wagon- a high end L300 exceed in the USA and the Sigma in Japan. In their efforts to upscale the product, yes, the fuzion thought of re-classifying itself- and so did the Isuzu Crosswind and the Revo VX and SR line-ups.
The third row seat is a simple fabrication from MMPC. taiwan didnt seem interested to build one. the fold-tumble seats is a bummer when you need to haul long or big cargo blocking your access to additional room when the 2nd row is also folded. i got a chance to ride in the 3rd row. its definitely reserved for kids! head and leg room is a pain with the flat bench oh-so-plain for 2 as compared to the innova that is a snug fit that even fit 3!
we just have to wait for next year...

September 23rd, 2008 06:10 AM #524Yup, the M/T is for the cheapest variant that's still 4G64 powered. Probably meant for taxis.
Taiwan models did not have third row seats to get a lower tax rate. Over there, bigger cargo space means bigger tax breaks.
Overall, I love Mitsu cars. I love the design. But lately, I hate the direction that Mitsu is taking. Gone are the days of class leading innovation. Now, its mostly vehicles with "me too" features.

hello kapamilya... hehehe!
im glad to know your Fuzion is doing great! im sure it will still serve you well!
as for the cap, im very sure that it should be available at the casa. You can try calling MitsuPrime or El Dorado. Their numbers are presumably at the Yellow Pages. Good luck po sir.

Definitely sales of this vehicle is stagnating...parang Space Gear few years back.
A diesel option is probably what it lacks. It may not even be a CRDI. Just put a 2.5L 4D56 turbodiesel under the hood and it will have the chance to compete with the Crosswinds and the Innovas.
Crosswinds are still selling good inspite of its being underpowered. And to think the Fuzion has a nicer cabin interior and offers better refinement.
Mitusbishi Phil. can leave the Adventure to compete with the Avanza.
